I intended to see Cloverfield last night, but some pretty rough family stuff came up and I decided to just wait for DVD.
Now I wanna see it ASAP. Pagong and pickledsquirrelnuggetss got me all excited. (and no, it wasn't because psn said "dick"...)

So what are the odds said monster was supposed to be Ol' Smokey at one time, even if just in the dark recesses of JJ's mind?

Handheld cameras and no-name actors? Just a guess, I have no idea. |

One caution: don't sit close to the screen if you are prone to motion sickness. I sat a few rows past the middle and omg, I still about hurled.

Has anyone heard about weekend gross numbers yet? I have a feeling this movie is going to be one of those films that people go back to see several times. ETA: $41 Million. Pretty huge! They projected $20 Million.

I sat in the very back row and my buddies girlfriend had to go into the washroom and puke after the movie. Another girl in our row left about 20 minutes in
and never came back. It didn't bother me at all but I still can't imagine sitting close to the screen. So yeah, if you go, go early and get a good
seat at the back.

Hey, Felicia, maybe we can go see the movie together. I was going to go see it yesterday, too, but my plans kinda fell through. I've heard only good
things about this movie.

Hey Aslanscubs.. it's a date. When? Can you come here Wednesday or Thursday evening? Call me.
Ok, back to Cloverfield discussion. |

I didn't notice that Dharma logo when I watched the movie. I think I'd have to see it for myself to believe it...it would be pretty easy to fake that.
I imagine it's legit though, definitely Abrams M.O.
edit: Ok, yeah, it is there. I just watched the first few seconds on a bootleg and it does flash on the screen briefly. It's not there the entire time that the department of defense screen is on though, it only flashes for a frame before it switches to the next screen. Sneaky bastards.

Heres How |

Can someone who's seen Cloverfield please answer this question. How good or bad a film would it have been if it had been shot as a normal film rather than
a home video camera style ala Blair Witch?

eta: the "logo" pops up 54 seconds into the credits

i got dragged back to seeing this again with some friends. this time i watched carefully the last scene. you can clearly see something fall into the water on
the right hand side, with a little splash and everything. its one hundred percent clearly visible with no speculation whatsoever. kinda stupid if you ask me

I just came back from seeing it for a 2nd time, and I can tell you the DHARMA logo DID NOT appear on the screen. I think someone is
manipulating the bootlegs that are out there.
Additionally, I'd like to share with you guys the experience I had this second go round listenting to the two MORONS who were sitting behind me. The following transcript is about 99.9% word for word: Woman: Central Park. Is that in Pittsburgh? Man: Yeah. and... Woman: What is that? Is that the Statue of Liberty's head? Man: Uhh, I don't think so. That looks too small. ...but wait! There's more. Woman: Is she dead? Man: I think she turned into one of the creatures. ....and finally... Woman: That was the DUMBEST thing I ever saw. Man: I know. Apparently these two buffoons don't ever look at each other. I hope they crashed on the way home. :) Additionally, regarding the final scene...

Pagong, those people sound 10x better than the dumbasses that always, and I mean ALWAYS sit near me. I'm jealous of you fuckers that have seen it twice.
Not counting kids movies, the last time a saw a movie in an indoor theater was The Departed.

I was not convinced by the still frames but the bootleg vid seemed to be legit...and I use the word "legit" fully aware that I'm talking about a bootleg video. Pretty impressive and pointless manipulation if it's not actually there. |

Pagong I know I saw it when I saw it in the theatre. I don't think the bootleg has been manipulated

I swear, dude. I sat there and waited for it. Eyes glued to the screen. I never saw it.
