Wow that was an intense movie. It's not too much like Lost but it's definetly something Lost fans will enjoy. The only problem I had with it was the
same problem I had with the Blair Witch Project; that being if you are in a life and death situation, DROP THE FUCKING CAMERA!
Concerning the monster: (not too spoilerish)

I found a picture of it that a fan drew after they came back from a viewing

Well, that's one fucked up looking monster! Is the movie worth driving an hour and paying 8.50 to see, or should I wait for video?

Definitely go see it Cindi! A DVD or rental won't do the movie justice. The whole camcorder/handheld cam really pulls you in and makes you feel like
you're actually there.

I just came back from seeing it. WOW!
AMAZING movie. From start to finish. J.J. is unbelievably talented in his ability to get you to care about characters...and he only had 84 minutes to do it in this baby. The CGI was superb. The action was non-stop. It was funny. It was sad. The ending was fantastic. It was darn near perfect. I can't wait to go see it again. Go see this movie ASAP!!!!!! |

Am I insane or was there a Dharma logo at the beginning of the film in the lower right hand corner?

You're insane. There still may have been a Dharma logo, though.

Thanks guys. Maybe I'll go during the week after PT, since I'm already halfway there then anyways, and it won't be as crowded.

J.J. is unbelievably talented in his ability to get you to care about charactersI think you are giving JJ to much credit here. Props should be going to Drew Goddard and Matt Reeves. I thought the movie was great. One of the most intense rides at the theater I've experienced in a long time. I don't agree that there are to many unanswered questions though. The whole point of the movie is that it is a "real" account. They made the movie as close to a real account as they could and still make a coherent story(as simple a story as it may be). I mean, if it was real, Hud would have dropped the camera after the first explosion and there would have been no movie. Anybody who expected answers or a bigger plot should have their heads examined. It's about a group of 20-somethings running through New York trying to get from point A to B and find a friend all the while trying not to be killed by the unexplainable creatures or be shot by the military...and they just happen to have a camera. We know as much as they know...no more, no less. If you wanted answers or a bigger plot then you wanted the big 100million dollar Hollywood style military vs. monster movie with the stand out hero played by a big star with lame/pointless one-liners and a big long backstory explaining how the monster came to be. That was called Godzilla...it sucked. Being in the dark is what makes this movie good.

maxxfisher wrote: I was looking all over the whole time for anything or anyone related to Lost. I didn't see anything. What was the reaction from everybody's audience? When the credits started rolling, my theater was deathly silent. Nobody made a sound. You would almost think we had all just watched Schindler's List.Btw, best line: "Whoa whoa, you know Superman? Are you aware of Garfield?" |

ok pickledsquirellnuggets, you just owned me. absolutely right. i guess they couldnt have made the movie with a realistic character story. and i would rather
stab my eyes out with a fork than watch dennis quaid or bruce willis save the world again. i am just frustrated because i really wanted to know where it came
from. but i guess the creators left what i think are clues to where it came from (such as the first object destroyed by it in the movie). sometimes as just a
viewer it is easy to find thinks to criticize but in comparison to hollywoof garbage it deserves a lot more credit.

i am just frustrated because i really wanted to know where it came from. The crazed internet folk who dissect movies until there is nothing left seem to think that in the last scene of the movie(coney island) you see something fall from the sky into the ocean. I didn't see this...but a lot of people seem to believe it. Is this the monster? Is this what woke the monster up? Did the retrieval of this object lead to waking the monster up? Was there even an object? I don't know. It's kinda interesting though. Oh...and I wasn't trying to be a dick in my last post. It clearly reads that way though. |

Wow. This movie swallowed the box office last week. Something like 44 million. The only thing close was 27 Dresses with Katherine Heigle at 27 million.
Looks like JJ has his hit & the internet buzz worked. |

I can't fathom how J.J. made this movie on just a $25 million budget because the effects are soooooo good.
I'm happy he made the budget and then some back. Very well deserved! |
