What was that song?
"If I Can Dream"...the finale from the '68 Comeback Special.
It can also be found on several Elvis compilation albums/CDs.

Quote: What was the song by the way? I didn't quite catch the title. I'd actually never heard the song before so I thought it was a nice choice for the duet. Celine Dion did well too. edited to add: so it's called "If I Can Dream"... Nice! |

How quickly we forget! Elliott covered 'If I Can Dream' on Elvis night. It's one of my favorite lesser known Elvis songs.
The Elvis/Celine 'duo' was the perfect cap to a bizarre evening. |

I liked it when Elvis whispered to Celine: "Bitch, don't upstage me."

Are you all freakin' serious??? That to me was one of the lamest moments of a completely fucked-up show. It wasn't even cheesy in a Hallmark commercial sort of way, it just plain sucked. I'd have rather seen Sanjaya perform than to watch that crap.
And Elliott didn't butcher the song. He did hit a bad note or two, but at least he didn't do the Elvis arm-spinning, over-the-top emoting of the song. Oh. And Celine Dion sucks. |

In one of the Elvis "bio-movies" starring Kurt Russell I think (but not sure), it was shown that prior to going out to sing that particular song, Colonel Parker had informed Elvis that he would NEVER be touring overseas, something that Elvis had wanted very much to do ...i.e., a dream he had always had, and that's why he sang the song with SO MUCH passion, because he realized that a dream of HIS would never be realized.
Obviously, it could have just been part of the storyline of the writers to make the movie more dramatic, but it could also have been based on fact I suppose. [/end trivia bullshit] |

^LOL that was funny.
Anyway, the song sounded great if I closed my eyes. But the footage itself was unwatchable. Horribly bad effect! |

Quote: Agreed. I liked how they did it on-stage and on-screen. I just saw the Elvis thing - having him 'there,' performing like that was odd... even though I knew it was coming last week. |
