The Puget Sound Clean Air Agency said it also expanded the so-called "Stage 2 burn ban" to cover Kitsap and Pierce counties. The new bans were effective at 10 a.m. Wednesday. The reason is stagnant weather and increased pollution. Smoke from burning wood is a special concern. What the fuck? It's been below freezing and is supposed to rain this weekend and way into next week. The State can tell me that I can't buy wood with my money and burn my wood in my fireplace in my house? Fuck all that. Makin' a fire this weekend. FIGHT THE POWER!

Seems totally ridiculous for the rural parts of the state to be subjected to air quality regulations intended for the highly populated areas.

We have unusual cold temps for Northern California and had snow the last couple of days. But a "Spare the Air" burn ban is in effect and there will be no fire in the fireplace for me or the cats. But there will be plenty of hot brandies. Until the Nazis take that away from me too. A Winter Spare the Air Alert has been called for tomorrow, Wednesday, December 9, in the Bay Area. The burning of wood and firelogs is banned both indoors and outdoors tomorrow, from midnight to midnight. Air quality in the Bay Area is forecast to be unhealthy. The use of any and all wood-burning devices including fireplaces, wood stoves and inserts, pellet stoves and outdoor fire-pits is illegal. This wood-burning ban will be in effect for Alameda, Contra Costa, Marin, Napa, San Francisco, San Mateo, Santa Clara, southern Sonoma and southwestern Solano Counties. Wood smoke is the largest source of wintertime air pollution in the Bay Area. When there is no wind to disperse pollutants from smoke, they become trapped close to the ground and can build up to unhealthy levels, making it difficult for people with asthma and other respiratory conditions to breathe.
