I will enjoy Jordin's win momentarily and then I will go back to cussing about how that title should be Melinda's.

Jordin has been my favorite ever since Semis. I'm glad she made it to the finale and if she doesn't win, this season will be one big joke.

Re: Jordin | ||

This joke became a joke the minute Melinda was voted out.
Jordin has no stage personality, no style of her own, no memorable performances with the exception of 1 song (which she has sung twice). She is a nice girl, with a nice voice. That's the end of the story. If she wins, she will go down as the most lackluster AI in history. |

Okay, so we'll give "Blake" the award for most memorable performances this season?!? Ok, he's had a couple, but his voice doesn't stand out in anything. His style or gimmick is his strength.
With Jordin, her voice is her strength - and strong it is. And I'll give Jordin more than one memorable performance because "Broken Wing" was also a very good one. And some are partial to "You'll Never Walk Alone" even though it could have been sung better. |

Re: Jordin | ||

^^^Only a hearing impared, blind person could make that connection...or a four year old. Melinda was the total package...unfortunately many people equate "looks" with singing ability...She's gonna be fine though and we are not done seeing or hearing from her.
I don't think Jordin has the "it" factor to make it in the long run but to each his own... Time is the true test. This contest will not be decided tonight or tomorrow. This will be decided in the next couple of years. Will Jordin end up edgy like Kelly Clarkson and become a star in her own right winning grammys and accolades? Or will she end up like Fantasia, who appeals to a particular group of people but who you never hear on a pop station and whose biggest exposure comes from her admitting that she couldn't read?? And will Blake end up like Chris Daugherty and sell millions? Or will his style have limited appeal to a few people the way Reuban's style has. Everyone has an opinion and everyone is entitled to that....but only time will tell who the real winners and losers are from this season... |

Re: Jordin | ||

^^On that we can agree...but I'm not the only one that found Melinda totally lacking in personality.
It will be interesting to see how it pans out a year from now, and I think your anology of Kelly Clarkson to the abject failure that is Fantasia is straight on point. |

Re: Jordin | ||

Yea, but Melinda lit up when she was performing. She had it and her voice was great.
Here is a bit more food for thought... I almost feel sorry for Jordin if she wins. She has no idea what this will do to her life and I don't believe she has the maturity to even know if it's what she really wants. Maybe it is and she will rise to the occassion, develop a style, forget about the sacrifices she is forced to make and have huge success... And if that happens, she has enough strong family around so that she doesn't end up like a Britney Spears or Lindsey Lohan. If she can get through everything and come out on top, I will give her the kudos she has earned but face it, the odds are against her.... JUST SUPPOSE, On the other hand, maybe she will find out winning AI is not all it's cracked up to be. She will end up missing her friends, family, senior prom, her privacy and her homelife. She is skewered by not-so-nice tabloids who make fun of her size, her weight, her abilities (even though she sings pretty well) and every mis-step is well documented by everyone who carries a camera or pen. Forget about a boyfriend... She doesn't have a chart topping first album because she doesn't know enough about herself to know how she wants to showcase her talent and so lets others decide for her. And at 19 years old, she is thrown on the scrap heap by a brutal music business who only rewards huge success and has no time for people trying to get "on the job training." It would horrible to be a "has-been" at 20. This scenerio could happen just as easily as the first one and I would not wish it on anyone. I, personally will not affect the final outcome...I am a drop in the bucket compared to millions of voters. What happens will happen... I just hope it works out for the best. |

Re: Jordin | ||

I see what you're saying, but you could say the same of any young performer. Should we up the age limit for Idol then? Not vote for her because how her life may turn out?
I will not dispute that all of that will happen, but the same can be said of any young performer. |

Why are people *still* hating on Jordin for Melinda getting booted? Ehm, she was sacrificed for Blake, not Jordin.
Pre-emptive Jordin victory. |

Re: Jordin | ||

^^Because both Blake and Melinda were entertainers. Jordin is a teenager who happens to have a nice voice. Unlike Blake and Melinda, if I heard Jordin on the radio I wouldn't be able to tell you who was singing because there is nothing distinctive about her.
As to whether there should be an age limit to AI. I don't think it's a bad idea at all. I think the minimum age should be 18...at least, 21 would be better. Will this adversly affect those who are younger? I don't know. Let's see. (Hmmm thinking Britney here, she is the poster child of too much fame too fast) What are the down sides of waiting a year or two. I can't think of any...not if someone really has talent and desire to make singing their life. IF they really are good and have talent, an extra year or two will give them time to hone their skills, develop an individual style, allow them to mature and develop some stage presence. If they are really good, they will have no trouble waiting a year or two, they will only get better. The competition would be better with more seasoned singers. I guess, my vote is if they are going to limit the age on the upper end (28) they should set some quidelines on the lower end as well and this means at least 18 or older. |

Re: Jordin | ||

How is anyone hating on Jordin for Melinda's boot?
People are just hating on Jordin and discussing Melinda's unfair boot simultaneously, that doesn't automatically mean they're blaming Jordin or hating on her because Melinda got booted. You can hate Jordin and love Melinda and still not hate Jordin or blame her because of Melinda's elimination you know. |

I'm hoping for the schadenfreude of Miss Thang's being THISCLOSE to a win, only to have Blehke beat her out, and the resulting tears. Yeah, yeah, she's only seventeen..

Sucks, you said it ...I don't hate Jordin or blame her for Melinda being eliminated just as I don't blame Blake.
This is just one more thing Jordin will have to deal with (if she wins), those who "blame" her because their "favorite" did not win... |
