Re: Jordan Love | ||

I agree with James Barber's post. She is so much a creature of the talent show/pageant circuit. She's this year's Diana DeGarmo. And Jordin's trying too hard (and so are the AI producers) to be the next Kelly Clarkson. But there's already a Kelly Clarkson, but perhaps Clive and 19 want Jordin to be the Kelly of the insipid A Moment Like This era.

James Barber and Suckshardcore - both groups of comments are insightful and dead on target.
Jordan is a sweet girl, nice voice but winning AI is not going to be the Disney, happily ever after fairy tale she might imagine. Along with the pressure to change her body (to fit other persons perceptions of what an AI should look like. (Look at poor Reuban, he has been on a diet since he won AI.) She is also going to have to cope with people who will be trying to dictate what her "style" is going to be since she hasn't matured to the point where she has her own style. Every other AI in the past has had that "something" a bit different, a style, a comfort zone but I don't see that in Jordan. Nor do I see her as having the strength to stand up to those who are going to run her "career" for the next year. Finally, there is the emotional maturity needed to simply withstand the pressure of a road tour, putting out an album (and you know that she will be constantly be reminded of whose first album sold and whose didn't) and dealing with sudden fame. (Remember Justin? Look what sudden fame brought him... I know that she says she has dealt with fame because of her dad but that statement just illustrates how clueless she is) I don't think she is a shoe-in to win (despite AI forcing her down our throat) but if she does...I only hope she can rise to the challenges that await her. |

Yeah I definitely feel for the girl. I'm less than a year older than her and I just know I'd be completely overwhelmed in her position.
We've had pretty much all teens win Canadian Idol, 3 out of 4 1 was 17, 1 was 18 and 1 was 19 and all of them were under tons of pressure and it's obvious that it's taken an emotional toll on all of their lives but all of them to me seem much stronger than Jordin and they've handled it well enough. Jordin seems a lot less mature than the 3 of them and I just don't know how she'd handle winning, and being away from home and everything on tour, in the studio etc. |

They wanted her out this week. Now, the question becomes, "Who's Plan B?" (aka Kat McPhee)

Wow Sucks, I'm impressed that you have such insight at your age and again I agree 100%. Let's just keep our fingers crossed she doesn't take the Justin route... I look forward to reading more from you after the final...
I just saw a blurb that AI fans are going to get to vote early (MSNBC.com) I wonder what that's all about. |

Simon was trying to get rid of her, but I'm not sure about the producers. Nigel was furious about the way Simon treated Jordin.
In the interview Simon gave today, they said Jordin would be singing an upbeat song to counter Simon's criticism about boring music choices. If that's a reprisal, I hope she will go with Heartbreaker or Gimme One Reason, and not anything from the finals. I think Jordin, with more training, might be better than Diana, but of their journeys on the show, Diana was better. The judges actually gave Diana constructive criticism, and she learned and changed. They may not have been satisfied, but she was still able to figure out how to improve her performances. |

Well if she goes uptempo, it better be a new song and not a reprise of Hey Baby or Rhythm is Gonna Get You.

Jordin... used to like her somewhat but she just leaves me cold now. When she sings well... it's great... however when she fucks up she sounds like a sheep being led to the slaughter. I PRAY that she doesn't hit any bad notes during the finale. I just got my ears to stop bleeding after her "Living on a Prayer" performance.
But I agree with those that said that she is the next DiBot. One MILLION dollars says that she will get the shittiest songs for her first album... ala DiBot... and fade into obscurity. |

I WANT Jordin to win :) Down with Blake. I couldn't be around long enough to cheer her on, but she deserves the title hands down. Clearly the best teenager ever and the best contestant of the season. Blake shouldn't even be there. Jordin is in a different league.
