My daughter has a different theory. She thinks it comes from a lot of the violent video games that kids play, where there are no consequences to violent
actions. Kids are growing up believing this is how the world works.

Isn't torturing animals the big sign that a kid's gonna grow up to be a serial killer? That's psychology. What's also psychology is that most
of us heard about a dozen soldiers being shot to death and went "that's a shame" and then read about the poor kitty and have lost our appetites.

The soldiers who died weren't tortured for 2 months before they died, they were adult humans who had an outside chance of defending themselves if they had
to. It's not even close to being the same.
