Comparing pre-merges only, Samoa was better. Samoa likely won't have anything post-merge to rival the 4 Horsemen getting their asses handed to them,
though.

Yeah, Samoa pre-merge was decent. Hopefully the post-merge will pick up.
Fiji's pre-merge was the worst Survivor has ever seen, simply due to the luxury camp twist which sucked all the drama out of the show and the fact that it was practically narrated by Rocky and Lisi. Russell's screen time in Samoa is bad enough but people forget that Fiji's pre-merge was dominated by not one, but two OTTN5 castaways. For those who stuck with Fiji through the pre-merge, though, the post-merge was pretty epic. I am confident that if there had been no luxury camp, Fiji could have been one of the best seasons ever. That's why it's so hard to rank Fiji. The post-merge was so short (five episodes), but they were all awesome. The nine pre-merge episodes of the season deserve the bottom spot of any Survivor ranking, anywhere.

Fiji sucked ass. This season is nowhere near as bad as Fiji. This season beats Tocantins, so far.

Most Pre-ASS1 seasons had shitty pre-mergers. Most seasons only really heat up at the merge. It's really not fair to judge a season based solely on
pre-merge episodes.

They could show a still shot of sand for the next 9 episodes and, on average, Samoa > Fiji.

Besides episode 2, which was an editing disaster, Samoa's been alright so far.
Fiji is an important season for true Survivor fans. It set the bar at such a low, that it's an essential keystone in Survivor season rankings and comparisons. Thanks to Fiji, the number of arguments regarding the 'worst season ever' have been reduced. We can almost guarantee that any future season will be better than Fiji. Thank you, Fiji. Thank you for being such a producer-manipulated failure. <3 |
