I wonder if they have a new individual immunity necklace for the post-merge.. because there's always the possibility that with the budget cuts and all,
that they re-use the leadership necklaces for immunity.
There are two of them after all... |

Cook Islands and season 14 proved that having a large jury just makes things harder, with people voted out early having a say in deciding the winner. The jury is supposed to be made with people who made it far and know the contestants. Changing the system just makes it a lot less logical. Swaps are a good idea for mixing people, early merges not so much. |

The tee-ball challenge was originally supposed to be a Tribal Reward Challenge. It seems more like an RC since it is similar to the bocce that they had for RC a few episodes ago. |

The game was great with merge at 10 and jury of 7. Why ruin something that's working?
Jeff will tell you it's to shake it up to keep them on their toes. I always liked the F2 with 7 jurists. :Shrug it's their game. Wherever this challenge came from it's the most unusual merge challenge I can recall. This is typically an endurance challenge. I'm not sure this event will favor one gender over the other. As TDT notes it's esentially skee-ball off a tee. My 8 year old has beaten me in skee-ball. Unless Bob were involved to figure out the angles I think the winner is more or less dumb luck. Hopefully we get more footage during football today.

Since only one person was eliminated in the last episode the scheduled double boot was eliminated. Since the challenges are planned way in advance they did not immediately come up with a new individual challenge to make up for the fact that they had to eliminate an additional person after the merger. That leaves as the only option that they moved up the merger and modified two tribal challenges into individual challenges. We have never seen anything like the tee-ball challenge as the first IC after the merger before and we might see "the abacus thingy with the beads" in the episode after the next. BTW, they did the reverse in Thailand. The producers decided at the last minute to introduce the fake merge twist and the last two Tribal challenges (jail break and hold your breath underwater) became tribal challenges instead of individual challenges. |

Logically, they needed to come up with a way to eliminate an additional person as Russell's evacuation took the place of the planned double boot.Not necessarily, they had Mike's evac, too. So they're at the same number of people as if they had the double boot, and no med evacs. I wonder if there is another component to the challenge. You get a number from the skee ball, then use it to do algebra on the abacus. Or some kind of handicap in the endurance part of the challenge. Or it actually is a quickie individual reward challenge. Everyone had plenty to eat and drink at the merge feast, but even with Galu's fire/tarp kit from last week, they're a little short of camp supplies, as well as warm clothing. Maybe the winner(s) get a little bounty to dispense among their new tribemates/voters. |

Me too, the final male/female pair off in some event? In any event given Dave's ability in Bocce Ball I have him as a winner or finalist, but it's a total crap shoot. I'm not even sure why they separated men and women. |
