Am I missing something? Parvati: I can understand why people like her; I'm just more surprised that she has so many fans who absolutely adore her. And it doesn't just go for Sucks; ever since Micronesia almost every 20something girl who goes on the show calls Parvati their favorite player and say they want to emulate her. Crystal: I'll concede that she was entertaining. But "EAT YO RICE" was about the most annoying fad ever at Sucks and I still don't get why people were so pissed off at her boot. JT: This doesn't apply to Sucks of course, but among most viewers...to me he just seems like a younger version of Big Tom who managed to win because so many people in Tocantins had the attitude that JT winning was as satisfying as winning themselves. Certainly not a disagreeable guy but was he really that amazingly likable? On the reverse side, I really don't understand why Lex is still so passionately hated after all this time. There have been plenty of bitter people before and since, and Lex actually had a legitimate reason to be upset (but yeah, he did go a little overboard). |

But at the basis Tom and Terry are from the same mold. Like Tina/Teresa, Jenna M/Parvati etc.Totally agree Wyldawg. Several alumni like Eliza actually think Terry is nicer in person. Terry is more popular due to several accidents and circumstances: 1) He was Tom 2.0 so soon after Palau - been there, done that. 2) Misty had a great positive edit, but her and Sally lost out to the all-male alliance. So Terry ran afoul of fans of the2 most popular cute girls. Though Austin\Nick deserve the blame, since Misty never approached Terry with an alliance 3) Terry had a whitebread tribe, so fans of minorities rooted for Casaya.. Especailly with Cirie's golden edit. And Terry targeted Cirie over Danielle. 4) Terry's IC streak was spoiled, making it more boring than impressive to many spoiler-readers. PS: I rooted for Koror 5 and Casaya, so the above has little to do with fandom.

The degree of Sucks love for Penner is most puzzling, given Sucks hate for Terry, Randy, and Coach.
He is a character is that mould - alpha dad with touch of overbearing asshole (more so than Terry, not as bad as Coach). Yet Sucks loves him MORE than typical fans. I think Penner love is the basis of much S13 hate, since he ended up the pariah of the season for both tribes. |

It's true though, people had MUCH better taste back in the old days. Like I already said, there were lots of people back then that i loathed, but understood their fanbase (i.e Fairplay, Mariano, Heidi etc.) Don't you remember all the crazy Darrah love back in Pearl Islands, and how many adore UTR Colleen and S2 Amber? Erinn wasn\t a great character, but she was lovable underdog compared to Coach\Tyson. Just as false spoilers fueled Darrah love, Erinn was the only chick that was edgically viable postmerge. |

Colleen UTR?She played UTR, that was her strategy. And I think edgic would have eliminated her early for lack of visibility (though she became a star later in the game). |

JT. If you hate Tom you should hate JT.
I hate both. Although even I can't explain why I am a fan of Darrah, I just always have been since Pearl Islands. But my defo favo is and always will be Cirie. What's not to like? |

Fanhood seems to be 95% all about appearances these days. Which sucks.
If people are gonna get obsessed about useless people who maybe have like 1 funny confessional and then do nothing more than have a pulse for 39 days, then why aren't there fans roaming around for decent and interesting early season players like: Gervase, Tammy, Jake, Deena, Twila? |
