Crystal, Kenny... actually, anyone from Gabon.
I get that everyone has different taste but I seriously just don't get the Fang love. |

Katy Carney wrote: Mostly widespread fandom, but it's hard to tell who actually has a huge fanbase due to thread jacking. Besides, I understand why Sydney was well liked among some people. What I don't understand is how Cirie is considered to be not only a *ahem* brilliant player, but also better than most of the winners. Also, I don't see where claims of her being humorous come from, since her personality is pretty much akin to many different less appreciated castaways. |

They had very different story archs because of their respective opposite circumstances. One was running the show and the other one had his back against the
wall, which is mostly why I think Tom ended being a golden alpha-dad and Terry ended up being a bit more douchey. But at the basis they are from the same mold.
Like Tina/Teresa, Jenna M/Parvati etc.
And I definitely wasn't refering to Silas. Silas had more edit and personality in his short stay than most recent mactor bots who make the end game. |

Well there's a huge difference between who is popular at Sucks and who is popular with the overall audience. Just comparing the Sucks popularity polls to
the "America's Choice" vote they do at the end of every season makes that pretty obvious.
People bitch about bland pretty people or black women being too liked around her, but they should just be happy that Sucks isn't filled with Ozzmanda and Rupert fans |

I'm talking about how Koror was completely ignored because they kept winning. Also, Palau did start the mactor trend. Yeah, there were a few in PI and more in Vanuatu, but they weren't all the typical strong boring ones we get now making up 90% of the cast. |

She was a good strategist and positioned herself well (I think that's pretty fair), but she also was enough of a character to keep us entertained and enough of a real person to make us care. She was funny but also serious and determined. She had skills despite her couch potato early boot appearance. I agree that her fans can be a little aggressive but I think there's merit behind the idea that she's a Survivor A-lister. I get it. WylDawg wrote: yeah I can see that. |

Thailandsurvivor wrote: The only Koror member totally shafted by the editing was Willard, and even he got a shout out by COby during the "merge" episode. This kind of shafting also happened previously in Vanuatu, and to a lesser extent as far back as Pearl Islands with Darrah. You can't compare them to the kind of horrible editing in the CI era, though, because CI was the first season that totally eliminated character development as a storytelling device, and replacing it with a "storyline" about how the evil Raro brats were eliminated and how ethnic diversity always triumphs. |

I'm not one to defend CI, but I'm just saying Palau came first and had the affect on me. Just as some (delusional) people consider Thailand the worst
season of all time because it was the first "bad" season (although I severely disagree), Palau will always be the first with a 20 person cast. It
will be the first where more than one random person in Zoe or Darrah was ignored. I guess Vanuatu had that case in some of the early boots, but Palau had
multiple people in the end game in that situation. Janu, Gregg, Caryn, Jenn. Sure, they all had their moments, but it wasn't enough to me after being
ignored for the entire first half of the season. Gregg was my pre show favorite, and I still somewhat liked him because of that, but it was just absurd. Why
cast more people if you can't fit the air time in to show them? Why decide to devote the entire season to four people (Bobby Jon, Steph, Tom, and Ian)? Why
have an awful twist to start off the season and get rid of two people? Why not just keep the cast smaller? Palau was the first season about shock value, and it
ticked me off.

Isn't it a popular theory around here that Thailand/Amazon/All Stars pissed off the casual audience enough to warrent changes in editing? And I agree with you about Palau, but I thought that the editing mistakes were made because of the cast size and not the mactorish cast, but CI was different. As I said, it was the first season to actively stop caring about character development. |

Isn't it a popular theory around here that Thailand/Amazon/All Stars pissed off the casual audience enough to warrent changes in editing? Thailand maybe, but not Amazon and for reason I think viewers actually liked All-Stars. I mean it's one of the few seasons they released on DVD. As far as the editing goes, I blame Rupert. The unexplainable love for him in PI I think is what pushed producers to handpick one character from here on out and make then entire season all about them. Which is why my two favorite post-ASS seasons are Panama and China because the editing was a lot more spreaded out. |
