I can't know what's going to happen in the long run with this album, but we shall see. The music industry is in quite a shitty state though.

I mean more long term success as an artist, not necessarily with this one CD in particular. I think he's a very special talent and I want more albums for
him.

David Cook sold 280,000 albums, according to Nielsen SoundScan, coming in third for the week on the Billboard chart behind Beyonce (482,000) and Nickelback (326,000). That figure ... > Is seventh-best for any Idol finalist > Is fifth-best among winners, behind Ruben, Carrie, Taylor and Kelly but ahead of Fantasia and Jordin > Maintains the tradition (broken only by Clay) of winners outselling runners-up in the first week by surpassing David A.'s 183,000 last week. This week, David A. falls from No. 2 to No. 11, selling 66,000, a 64% drop (pretty much standard for a second week), for a total of 250,000. Next Idol on the chart is Jennifer, who drops 33-47 despite just a 3% sales decline to 21,000. Her total is 456,000. Carrie suffers a post-CMA return to reality, plunging 34-57 after selling 16,000, down 22%, for a total of 2.45 million. Daughtry slips 107-109 but gains 2% in sales to 6,000 for a total of 4.29 million. Kellie also feels the post-CMA blues, dropping 78-115 and selling 6,000, down 30%, for a total of 107,000. And Jordin, after exactly one year on the chart, falls off. Details on that and other off-chart follow. Carrie's Some Hearts declined only slightly, from 6,600 to 6,000, for a total of 6.59 million. Jordin sold 3,400, down about 15%, for a total of 956,000. She missed the chart by around 200 units sold. Bucky stayed at 2,000 for a total of 384,000. Elliott's My Kind of Holiday rose to 1,200 from 1,000 for a total of 5,000. His first album stayed at 200, total 518,000. Kelly's Breakaway stayed at 1,000 for a total of 6.03 million. My December stayed at 400, total 778,000, while Thankful stayed at 300, total 2.71 million. Kristy Lee dropped to 800 from 900 for a total of 23,000. Kellie's Small Town Girl dropped to 700 from 900 for a total of 795,000. Josh remained at 500 for a total of 69,000. Brooke catapulted from 200 to 400 for a total of slightly more than 11,000. Clay's Merry Christmas With Love rose from 300 to 400 for a total of 1.36 million. On My Way Here stayed at 300, total 155,000. Mandisa stayed at 300 for a total of 99,000, while her It's Christmas also stayed at 300, total 1,200. Chris S. stayed at 200, total 13,000. Fantasia sold 100, down from 200, total 518,000. Katharine stayed at 100, total 374,000. Blake stayed at 100, total 304,000. Bo stayed at 100, total 62,000. Ace stayed at 100, total just over 9,000. And Taylor's Early Works returned to a rounded 100 for a total of 4,000. On the other side, Phil dropped below the reportable figure this week. Sad to see him depart from Lyric Street so quickly; I thought he made a good country record. But such are the perils of selling just 36,000 of a first album. |

Idol downloads: Cook charts 3 new tracks
A mediocre week for Idols on the digital songs chart was offset somewhat by good news for David C.: He placed three tracks from his album on the top 200, along with the holdover single Light On. (The Time of My Life had no sales reported, meaning its availability was ended or sharply curtailed, and, naturally, falling off the chart.) Top Idol download, according to Nielsen SoundScan, is still David A.'s Crush, which fell 14-19 after selling 46,000, a 36% drop (understandable after last week's boost from the album's release). Total is 1.04 million, so congratulations are in order for reaching seven figures. Also crashing back to reality were two other tracks from the album. Touch My Hand falls off the chart after skidding from 10,000 to 2,000 downloads (total 12,000), and Angels likewise falls off after selling 2,600, down from 8,000, for a total of 45,000. Carrie's Just a Dream suffered a post-CMA Awards hangover, sliding 30-48 and selling 22,000, off 42%, for a total of 408,000. In addition, All-American Girl fell back off the chart, falling from 8,000 to 4,700 downloads for a total of 789,000. David C.'s top track is now Declaration, which enters the chart at No. 75 with 16,000. Light On falls 71-98, selling 11,000, down 47%, for a total of 259,000. Permanent starts at 122 with 9,000, and Come Back to Me begins at 148 with sales in the mid-7,000s. Jordin's One Step at a Time drops 62-76, selling 16,000, off by 33%, for a total of 996,000, postponing that 1-million celebration another week. No Air slipped 128-131, but was off 20% to 8,000 for a total of 2.58 million. Jennifer's Spotlight is up 85-80, although her sales were down 7% to 15,000. Total is 309,000. Daughtry's What About Now tumbles 145-167, selling 7,000, down 28%, for a total of 477,000. Also exiting the chart this week after a CMA-boosted week on: Kellie's Best Days of Your Life, which fell from 12,000 to 4,200 for a total of 32,000. > A few info requests: moneyman202 wanted a Jordin/Tattoo update: 1.81 million as of this week. Missy2008 was looking for totals on a couple of Blake's singles: Break Anotha is at 85,000, while How Many Words has sold 94,000 if you add in several variant versions. dalki had a few Katharine McPhee-related questions, two of which I can answer (no SoundScan data for the Tinker Bell soundtrack she appears on). She has a song (news to me) on the Barbie & the Diamond Castle soundtrack, which has sold 5,000 copies. And another soundtrack tune, I Know What Boys Like (the Waitresses '80s tune, from the House Bunny soundtrack), has sold 9,000. |

Why would anyone request info on Blake's singles? It would be depressing, even to a fan.

We know #1 sold around 60 K this week, so I'm not sure how much Cook sold at #11.

I would guess between 4,000-6,000 c.d.s, a good guess would be 5,000.
If it was 5,000 it is the equivalent of selling 50,000 in the states. |

Someone said they do post the numbers and Archie sold 4000, do you know what Cook's #s were for Canada?

Read the disclaimer on the site yourself. He says he makes it up using some magic he pulls out of his ass. You look like an idiot when you quote his numbers.
Stop doing that because you appear desperate to inflate Kelly's sales. She'll be ok whether she has inflated numbers or not.

Clearly you're just a bitter jackass Robbin. No one is even discussing Kelly or her sales. STFU.
