New releases from established and popular artists like Rihanna, Christina and Nickelback are definitely hurting Cook's chancing of getting the #1 spot.

I'd be stunned if Cookie could move past those 3 mentioned above. They're so popular (in Nickelback's case for no good reason).

Kristy Lee takes second-week plunge on album chart
Not a very good week for Idols on the Billboard album chart. Carrie's Carnival Ride is still tops, but drops from No. 45 to No. 54, with sales dipping below five figures to a rounded 9,000, down 13%, for a total of 2.35 million. Daughtry slides 52-65, selling 8,000, off 19%, for a total of 4.24 million. Jordin slips back 71-114, selling 5,000, down 25%, for a total of 922,000. And Kristy Lee suffers the usual big-time second-week percentage drop, only it looks worse when you sold just 10,000 the first week. She plummets from 49 to 153 on the chart, selling 4,000, down 60%, for a rounded total of 13,000. A third week on the chart looks unlikely at this point. Off-chart Idol stats, including a catch-up with some old favorites, follow. Carrie's Some Hearts sold 5,000, down a bit from 5,200, for a total of 6.55 million. Bucky sold 1,500, down from 1,600, total 368,000. Kellie sold 1,000, down from 1,200, total 788,000. New album debuts on the chart next week. Kelly sold 900 of Breakaway, down from 1,000, total 6.02 million. Thankful stayed at 300, total 2.71 million. My December also sold 300, down from 400, total 775,000. Josh sold 600, down from 700, total 65,000. Clay sold 500 of On My Way Here, up from 400 (a spinoff of his announcement?), total 152,000. Measure of a Man is also up, about 57%, although still within the range that rounds off to 100. Total is 2.78 million. And Thousand Different Ways is up 43%, also still within the 100 range, for a total of 528,000. Mandisa was back up to 300, from 200, for a total of 97,000. Chris S. stayed at 300, total 12,000, secularly speaking. Elliott stayed at 200, total 516,000. Fantasia sold 100, down from 200, total 517,000. Katharine stayed at 100, total 373,000. Blake stayed at 100, total 303,000. Bo stayed at 100, total 61,000. Phil stayed at 100, total 35,000. Brooke stayed at 100, total 9,700. Ace sold 100, down from 200, total slightly more than 8,000. Taylor's Early Works stayed at 100, total 4,000. Requests from tifferoo to update a few older albums' totals: Fantasia's first album has sold 1.77 million. Ruben's Soulful just edges it at 1.79 million, while gospel album I Need an Angel is at 456,000 and The Return has sold 238,000. Diana's debut has sold 167,000, and Justin's debut totals 143,000. I also had a request, from someone whose e-handle I can't quite read, for sales to date on Carly Hennessy (Smithson)'s first album -- that would be 5,000.
'Crush' continues to top Idol downloads
It wasn't a particularly prosperous week for downloads in general, according to Nielsen SoundScan, and the eight Idol tracks on the digital songs chart were mostly down as well. David A.'s Crush leads, slipping from No. 10 to No. 12 after selling 72,000 downloads, off 20%, for a total of 567,000. Jordin's One Step at a Time slips 24-27, selling 45,000, down 9%, for a total of 747,000. No Air slides 74-93, selling 14,000, down 19%, for a total of just under 2.50 million. Carrie's Just a Dream is down just a tad, 56-58, selling 22,000, off 6%, for a total of 228,000. Last Name plunges 148-185, selling 7,000, down 16%, for a total of 581,000. Daughtry's What About Now finally stumbles a bit, falling 70-75 and selling 18,000, down 2%, for a total of 375,000. David C.'s The Time of My Life is down 68-88, selling 15,000, down 20%, for a total of 915,000. And Jennifer's Spotlight is the lone charting Idol track to increase, albeit just 3%, to 13,000, netting it a jump from 100 to 99 on the chart. Total is 145,000.

Light On is up to #5 and will probably pass Nickelback (impressive!) sometime today.

Since Nickelback already gave the song away for free, not so impressive. Jennifer Hudson is predicted to sell between 210K and 225,000 first week sales of her new album That is pretty AWESOME. No so AWESOME, Pickler's first week sales which look to be way less than her first album. And she's a big country star. The curse of the sophmore albums continues.

Nickelback sucks, I'm impressed that they actually manage to maintain a fanbase with their level of shittiness.
