Though, having watched most of the TAR Seasons, I have gained a knowledge about how JB edits TAR (as opposed to MB) and the laws of TAR EDGIC (Editing + Logic).
The Final Four in TAR are usually FOUR unique Edits:
1. The "Good Guys."
2. The "Bad Guys."
3. The "Dark Horses."
4. The "Mixed Bag."
Most of the time the "Mixed Bag" WINS.
The first Law of a Reality show's "Winner's Edit" is to "HIDE IN PLAIN SIGHT." You need to make the CASE for the Winner to win. Then DENY it, either through trying to show how the Winner SHOULDN'T win. Or through DISTRACTION Edits, which convince you that other people either Should win or Will win.
The SHOULDA WON Edit is the "Good Guys" edit. Get people to CHEER for a team. The SHOULDN'T WIN is the "Bad Guys" edit, which makes you root AGAINST a team winning.
The difference between MB Survivor and Jerry Bruckheimer (JB) TAR Editing is that JB doesn't care about the inter-season Water Cooler Wars about who should have won vs who shouldn't have won. So he has no inclination to promote a "controversial" win or a triumphant, popular win.
Dynamic story telling and keeping each episode exciting are his only goals.
JB uses a limited number of Edits:
1. The "Good Guy" edit. This team is always portrayed Positively. They are always the UNDERDOGS. The odds are always stacked against them. They seem to have incredible LUCK at surviving adversity. When a good break comes their way, stirring music comes up.
2. The "Bad Guy" edit. This team is always portrayed as FIGHTING eternally. A couple at the brink of breaking up. They LIE, CHEAT and get lucky breaks at every opportunity.
3. The CHARACTER edit. The Rubes. The Weirdos. The Idiots. They almost NEVER make the Final Four. They are just in the game for COLOR.
4. The Mixed Bag, Shown as fighting one episode then in harmony the next. Shown as Incompetent one episode, then ruling the next. TAR 3 with Flo being portrayed as a Villain and Zack being portrayed as a Hero. The "Bad Guys" who inarguably deserve to win fairly.
THAT'S the TAR "Winner's Edit."
Episode One?
Megan/Tiffany = Bad Guys.
Marcy/Ron = Character. Portrayed as "Good Guys," but way up against their element.
Lance/Keri = Bad Guys. Lance's edit is OTTN. Mid game boot.
The Globetrotters = MAJOR GOOD GUY EDIT. Expect them to leave right before the Finale, as most big "Good Guy" edits do.
Gary/Matt = Character edit. Final 6 or 7.
Sam/Dan = Character Edit. The Gay Bros. Too much emphasis on who they are rather than how they play the game. Do well. Represent. Win? Not in a million years.
Zev and Justin = Character Edit. Aspies rule. Just not in TAR.
Mika/Canaan = Character Edit. Too much on the Country Music schmooshy aspect on their relationship.

Eliminating Dan/Sam for the Survivory rule of not talking about "how they play the game" is almost as silly.
