20. Terry Bellefleur



Love Terry, he's totally underrated. As I said before, I love him with Arlene, and he's just a totally great guy. Him comforting Lafayette after the Eric hallucination is the most touching scene in the show to date imo.

19. Eddie Gauthier



So fucking sad. I knew Amy was a crazy bitch, but my jaw hit the floor when she staked Eddie. Hit the fucking floor. Jason and Eddie's scenes together were among the best of the first season and solidified my Jason appreciation (I had been teetering back and forth previously). I was actually extremely pissed when the FotS storyline was set up at the end of season 1 because it felt like such a giant dump on Jason and Eddie's friendship, but it ended up being handled very well. Season 1 just gets better and better and better as it goes along, and the whole Eddie storyline is the peak as far as I'm concerned.




























18. Sookie Stackhouse



I didn't know Sookie was so hated. She's actually one of the few cases where the main character of an ensemble show DOESN'T drive me crazy :|

Also, Anna's got nice boobies.

14. Ginger

I feel so bad for Ginger! Her brain has been completely destroyed by daily glamoring But I spose if she wasn't such a retard I wouldn't love her. Ginger is the kind of character that would get old really fast if they featured her more often, but she just pops up every once in a while to be the perfect surprise treat ^_^

13. Hoyt Fortenberry



Again with a character that I really SHOULDN'T like, but can't help because he's so amazing. It's nice to see Hoyt developing a bit now, since basically he was introduced simply as the nicest guy in the world. Obviously his relationship with Jessica is the cutest thing ever, and it's going to be even better watching him try to bring her back from the dark side. The increase in Hoyt screentime is one of the few ways in which season 2 improved on 1.

12. Lettie Mae Thornton



Love. Love. LOVE. Did anyone else shed a t.ear when Maryann threw Lettie's bday present for Tara away? Kudos to the writers and Adina Porter for making the stereotypical abusive drunk parent into a really interesting, sympathetic character. Her speech at Gran's funeral is another of my fave moments.

11. Pam

10. Tara Thornton



If I had done a similar ranking last year, Tara would have been much higher. Tara kind of really sucked this season. I already went into her "love" with Eggs, and said storyline's title as THE WORST. After being both funny and sympathetic and awesome all through season 1, she spent this entire year being a mopey boring bitch. And exactly how many times did she try to get away from Maryann only to obviously fall back in line with her? DEAR WRITERS, WHEN YOU MAKE A BIG DRAMATIC THING WITH TARA TRYING TO GET RID OF MARYANN IN EPISODE 5, AND I KNOW MARYANN AIN'T GOING NOWHERE UNTIL EPISODE 12, IT'S NOT DRAMATIC IT'S FUCKING ANNOYING.

Anyway, if Tara stops sucking and hooks up with Jason next year, she can head right back up the list. As of now, bitch is on notice.

9. Maryann Forrester



Speaking of Maryann. Now, if you happen to follow the actual True Blood thread in OSTS at all, you'd know that I've always been conflicted here. On the one hand, I freaking love this character. Her speech to Tara in defense of chaos was a really great moment, and just in general I think she's interesting as hell (I've always loved Greek mythology, and I think it's awesome just that this type of creature is even on a show).

Too bad her storyline dragged. From her first appearance causing Tara's car accident to her death in the season finale, Maryann is in 15 episodes. I think that the whole thing could've been improved greatly if they took it all and compressed it to, I don't know, 10 eps or so. There was just such a stretch in the beginning-middleish of season 2 where it was so painfully obvious the writers were spinning wheels with Maryann in order to get to the finale.

I mean, episode 6, she has Sam, ready to sacrifice, her goal accomplished, and he escapes. Maryann then proceeds to stand around in Sookie's kitchen cooking hearts and twirling around for 2 entire episodes before she even starts looking for him again? What? Also, why didn't she have all her wedding stuff prepared right then if she intended to do the deed at that time? Oh right, she was just "toying" with Sam. That is in no way contrary to her character, don't get me wrong. But the reason that's not contrary to her character is because they made it a part of her character so that they could keep her and Sam circling around each other for 6 more episodes.




And seriously, how many crazy orgies do we have to see exactly? I get it, crazy orgies. I was over them by the fourth episode. I don't dislike the Maryann arc, and I think it's the kind of thing that would probably play very well on DVD, and as I said the character herself is awesome, but sweet jesus am I glad it's over.
