Soup kitchens? Dead animals and artifacts? Tick-infested parks? Blues joints? Cheap bail bond shops?

I need your suggestions, Sucksters. I'll be in Pittsburgh in early November for biz. I'll have all-day Sunday and half-Monday to play around, then I
gots to be serious for the rest of my stay. I'll be downtown and probably without a car.

Go to the strip. Street vendors and cool shops and fresh meats and cheeses and stuff.
The museum is cool too. |

You have to get one of those fat people burgers with the fries on top of the lettuce.

All the good porn stores I know require a car to get there. Sorry.
Take a walk down that scum-section that is supposed to be artsy and trendy or whatever. You can buy a mattress in a warehouse and then go around the block and have a cappuccino. After that, you can get yourself some lovely windchimes in a boutique. If you're going to jump off a bridge, the yellow one is really nice. |

I don't the bridges are tall enough in Pittyland, unless you jump in front of a bus.
Where's the strip? Street vendor stuff is fun. Is there only one museum? Probably won't do any shopping -- I'm trying to rid myself of the junk in my house. |

I don't know. You could be right. You might survive a leap from one of the bridges. But maybe not.
There's only one way to find out, right? The strip or whatever... just ask. It's nasty. One way streets, flooded with people who think they're getting some sort of deal at the farmer's markets because the vegetables are covered with mud. It's walking distance, adjacent to downtown, more or less. It's a horrible city. Just horrible. But they're all proud of it, so be nice. Many residents carry throwing stars and are proficient with them. If I had to spend a few days there I would likely just stay in my hotel room and masturbate. Oh, and one more thing. You'd best KNOW the names of all three rivers. I do, of course. |

Two days isnt a whole lot of time. My suggestions:
What hotel are you staying at? You may be within walking distance of a lot of things. |

Primanti Brothers Capicola [46 18th Street (in the Strip District)]-- the heart attack sandwiches -- Okay, but I'll refrain from fried foods for several days to prepare for this gastronomic experience. Station Square -- Lots of restaurants and some after dinner entertainment, too. Short cab ride -- okie dokie. Incline Tram -- Probably won't have time, but will keep it in the queue. Natural History Museum (4400 Forbes Avenue) -- Definitely a cab or bus trip there. In November, the'll be whales there, too! Rivers Casino -- I work too hard to give my money to a casino, sorry. Cultural District -- Only a few blocks from my meetings. Browsing and grazing. Sports -- I already checked into this. The Steelers have a bye and the Penguins are on the road. Dooh! I haven't decided which hotel I want to stay at. The Rennaissance or Omni William Penn are two possibilities. I like to stay in unique places that aren't run of the mill. Someone suggested the Priory (?) -- it's across the river and a lot smaller. And next to the freeway, so I don't know. Suggestions? Are the three rivers the Allegheny, Ohio and the one that caught fire in the 60s? |

Monongahela.
I remember I went to Pittsburgh sometime in the late 80s/early 90s and there was a cool park (at least it was cool to me when I was like 7) where you could look at where all the three rivers meet. What was that park? |

haven't decided which hotel I want to stay at. The Rennaissance or Omni William Penn are two possibilitiesI just stayed at both of these hotels recently. The Renaissance is just a Marriott nowadays. However, the views of the river are gorgeous from there. You can also see into PNC park from the hotel if you are a baseball fan. The Omni was a thousand times nicer, the service was better, and the bed was more comfortable IMO. There is also a spa in there if you are into that sort of thing. I got an excellent massage there. I second the Incline and the Carnegie or Science museums. The dino exhibit at the Carnegie is really cool. |
