I doubt any ordinary girl(unless she does some physical sport or...pumps iron) would have been able to do hit that puck to the top. That fact alone makes this detour biased (that the girls were left w/o choice but to do the golf challenge).
To make it even more unfair, the golf challenge was still strength based.

Gimme a break. CBS gave them two unearned chances to win the million despite coming in last place on two different legs. No apology is needed.

Unless you have tried those challenges yourself, you have no way of knowing whether they were truly strength based or biased. To me, both the hammer and the modified golf task appeared to be technique based. With the right technique and leverage, a heavy hammer or a golf club does not require brute strength to swing. If you watch again, you will see that the taller girl came close to hitting the bell a number of times. And, they were clearly overswinging that clog golf club instead of trying to make a solid hit on the center of the ball or finding the sweet spot on the club (there were two different sides to it). I think the problem was that they wore themselves out by going back and forth between the two detours, and by not paying attention to which technique served them best. I have a hard time believing that no "ordinary girl" could have performed in those challenges.
