Talk about dubious assumption!!!! Terry wanted Sally gone and only Casaya saved her. Did you know that Sally tried to flip to Casaya on her own right after the merge? Danielle and Courtney shut her down, saying they had their numbers and didn't need her at that point.

I know you weren't responding to me there and as you must have noticed, I didn't call Terry a dumbass for keeping the idol as if he were "Gollom". He needed it and giving it up was very risky indeed because you cannot expect to win the challenges. The risk was much less however when it came to the F5 and Shane proposed a deal. Giving him the idol and getting Aras out meant no more competition on the field for Terry and you need to risk at times. I think I would have done it if I were in his place but it's hard to tell for sure.

But I wanted to say that you are wrong when you say he used the idol for all it's potential. More than a shield, the idol is a threat. By winning immunity, Terry himself neutralized the menace of his idol.
3 quick examples:

- In the "eat or compete" challenge, there were only Sally, Aras and Terry competing. At one point, Aras has to go back in the ocean to look at the puzzle again. At that moment Terry HAD to give Sally a chance to win immunity. Instead, he completes the puzzle while Aras is still swimming out and he does his infamous Kachiiiiing!!!! even if it meant Sally was going. An opportunity to use the idol as a threat missed for sure.

- In the "hold your weight" challenge, it was down to Terry and Courtney who had proposed a solid deal. Here again, Terry had a great opportunity to let her win immunity and use the threat of the idol. It would have undercut Cirie's plans.

- Terry never went to someone and said "If you don't vote with me, I will vote you out so the idol will get you." Instead, he repeatedly voted for Aras, the only person he never tried to align with.

Those are only 3 examples of what I meant when I said he didn't find creative ways to get out of his predicament.

About Terry's "alliance" with Sally, Courtney and Danielle, you must realize that it wasn't an alliance so much as a drowning man trying to hold on to the closest person available. Terry was desperate to recover "his numbers" so anyone would do.

Misty and Ruth were voted out because they were weak females and no consideration was ever given to their game potential and how Ruth in particular could help Terry. It may disappoint DWH but I'm not assuming here because Dan was the one that said it.
