I love Islands settings and I can tell the difference between them. I wonder what this season will be called: Survivor: Samoa?, Survivor: Samoan Islands?,
Survivor: Soamoan Islands- *insert subtitle here*?

I'm not sure if it's just my imagination, but has anyone else noticed that on island-based seasons, the castaways usually get more supplies ie: two
minutes to strip the boat of everything of value...they end up with live chickens, hawaiian slings, fresh fruit, before they even hit their first immunity
challenge. (Cook Islands was the biggest culprit for this, but the Pearl Islands shopping spree was a close second) Before someone points it out, Tocantins
had the same basic idea only with the truck so there are exceptions. But in general, seems like the island seasons are a lot cushier and less likely to stress
the survival aspect of the game.

and they haven;t stressed on the survival aspect of the game since Marquesas. from Thailand onward it's always been either about the theme or the twist.

All-Stars was about how hard it was the second time around towards the beginning. The survival aspect is always there - but as the strategy moved away from
"who's not helping", showing the survival part was moved away too.

I like it. It's better than going back to Vanuatu for a second time. These days I'm happy with any location as long as it isn't a recycled one.

Every Island is very different but in terms of the camera maybe not so much. If you visit them (and I do) the sand is always
really different. The rocks and flora and fauna are different. If ya want to see land look out your window. BORING! |

Every Island is very different but in terms of the camera maybe not so much. If you visit them (and I do) the sand is always Who else is in for a trip to Samoa to check out the sand! I was never ever someone who said "Hey lets go to North America/Europe" but as we are sooooooo many seasons in and we have done everything there is to do location wise so why the fuck not. Its like a 95/5 case for Europe over North America for me but really what would be so bad about an interesting season in the Canadian Wilderness...or even in some remote area of Utah or something (to me tocantins look like Arizona). Tribe Lewis/Tribe Clark...really what would be so terrible about it. We get spoiled everywhere anyway it seems, and its not like we haven't gone to non-remote places (China was like 10 minutes from a major town apparently, same with Guatemala and Palau I think, Australia had to be close to something, PI was obviously right near a town) so as long as they were far enough away from major civilization and did a whole "early American explorers' theme I think it wouldn't be that bad. And for everyone that says "If I wanted to see land and deer and shit I'd look in my back yard"....well do that....if you want to focus just on the location watch the National Geographic channel...a lota nice sots there....you can take one season of beautiful shots of America instead on the great glorious sand and stream we have this season. |

But i think it would be weird to see survivor America...plus when survivor goes to diffrent locations, i look forward to it because i probablly will never get
to go to half the places they go to so...that's kinda nice...but i wouldn't be opposed to survivor America

Beautiful pics.
Mypoody give one reason besides your personal taste (that is valid) why they shouldn't shoot in North America....keeping in mind the show gets spoiled everywhere and it would be a local we have never seen. No where in the shows premise is it definitely defined that the local has to/should be outside the US....the only mention of the US is when it is mentioned that these are "ordinary American citizens". I feel it would be better received if we had an extreme local after it....like India or New Zealand. |

Not that there's anything wrong with location speculation, but this thread is about S19 Samoa. Sure I think Survivor America would be cool. It would be
nice to see a little hunting going on. But Samoa is an Island Paradise of extreme beauty, crystal clear water, white sand, tropical plants. Perfect place for
string bikinis, and wobbly jugs under water! Love those under water shots! Love the 25 foot down water challenges. Ever go 25 feet down? Feels like sharp nails
stuck through your ears. I love the colors on Islands. Living in America most places are grey half the year and its nice to see the tropics.

GeographySamoa is located east of the International Dateline between longitudes 171 and 172 degrees west and latitudes 13 and 14 degrees south of the Equator. It is about 2890km from Auckland, 1200km from Suva, 4400km from Sydney and 8400km from Los Angeles.
Samoa is comprised of two relatively large islands, Upolu and Savaii (which account for approximately 96% of the total land area) and eight smaller islands. The capital Apia and Faleolo International Airport are located on the island of Upolu. Total land area is 2934 sq km. The islands are volcanic and dominated by rugged mountain ranges with a fringe of coral reefs and lagoons which surround the islands. Flora & FaunaSamoa's tropical climate and fertile soils offer a wide range of flora from tropical rainforests to scrublands, marshes and swamps. Animal species
include flying foxes, land and sea birds, skinks and geckos. In the surrounding ocean, dolphins, whales and porpoises migrate through Samoa's waters,
while turtles are regular visitors to our islands. The surrounding reefs around the islands are home to some 900 fish species and over 200 varieties of
coral.
Lance Polu wrote a critical editorial on Talamua.com late last month about Samoan journalists being invited to a meeting by government officials, where they were asked to not report on the production of an American television show at a meeting. A production representative "asked that the name of the series be kept out of the media until an official announcement in May. Their logistics team is ariving in Samoa in April and they expect none of their activities to be reported by the local media." The piece doesn't mention Survivor but says it's a CBS show "filmed in different countries [that] is about
individuals being tested for their survival skills in various remote locations," and said it will be filmed "a short distance from a couple of
luxury hotels and Faleolo International Airport which is just three hours from Auckland."

JerseyJerk wrote:I live in New Zealand and I can confidently say it wouldn't be that great if it was filmed here. The majority of the South Island is made up of snowy mountains, farms, tourists and inbred hicks. The majority of the North Island is made up of boring farm land, towns, cities and self-important Maori's. There's beaches everywhere but no locals would want Survivor filmed at their nearest beach, and there's a bit of forrest up north but nothing you couldn't get in any other country in the world. The only place you could potentially film is on one of the many small islands surrounding New Zealand but even then most of those are either tourist hubs, bird sanctuaries or both. New Zealand is just way too developed to film Survivor anywhere here. Samoa on the other hand is like a tiny version of New Zealand with way less people and way more beaches, I can't wait. |

The two that seemed the most generic to me were all of the Panama seasons and the Cook Islands. The other ones all at least had some interesting vegetation and
landscapes.
Inland locations I think are always better but it will be nice to have an island season after two non-island seasons. |

Ok so just to try to nail the location down a little better I sent all the resorts near the airport a message something like this................
"I want to scuba dive Samoa in late May but I herd CBS is filming there. Can you tell me where so I can book around it? I don't want to be near that mess." I don't expect much but WTH. |
