What is it? How is it different from the regular sugar packets at restaurants? Are there any health benefits to using that over regular sugar in my iced tea?

Use Agave Nectar. Sweeter and not as bad for you.

I didn't include the period, donnie.
And I still don't what it is. It's not as though I'm going to ask a waiter, "Excuse me, but do you have any agave nectar for my tea?" The choices are regular sugar, sweet 'n low, equal, and sugar in the raw. |

And I still don't know what it is.

It's unrefined, has its natural molasses in it, and is in larger crystals than regular white sugar. IMO, it also tastes a lot better. The only disadvantage I find is that it takes longer to dissolve because the crystals' size. Yeah, it's more expensive, but I rarely buy sugar anyway. |

Because OF the crystals' size. Damn no edit.

It is regular sugar in larger crystals and dyed slightly brown then packaged in natural looking brown bags to make you think it is healthier.
In short, it's a scam. |

What's up with that new stuff? i forget what it's called but it's like...stevia or something?

Stevia is not new, it's been around forever. It's uber-sweet so you only use a tiny bit. Much better in teas than in coffee but great for baking. I
grew it years ago and loved to toss a crushed leaf into tea or lemonade.

Oh. So it's been commercially marketed before now? Because if it has, I am mistaken. If it has not, you are an utter douchebag.

Um...yeah, it's been available in stores forever. It's always been popular with diabetics and people who prefer organic foods although it's become
a lot more mainstream the last ten years or so.

So...there is not a new product and marketing campaign right now to bring this product into the mainstream and out of the dusty bins of some hippie assed
health food shack in Peoria?

Oh and the FDA did not just approve this shit a few months ago?

I tried some Sun Crystals sweetener the other day, apparently made with stevia and sugarcane combined? It was revolting--worse than Sweet & Low and Equal
combined.

I have no idea if there is a 'new' marketing campaign for it, it's always been advertised and sold here.
Stevia tends to have a bit of a 'green' flavour to it so it doesn't go well in everything but still tastes much better than the artificial sweeteners. |

Yeah, we don't have the 'FDA' here. Regardless, the FDA lifted it's ban on importing stevia products and sales in the US in 1995. The FDA
didn't 'just' approve it, they did recently change the guidelines for it's use in certain types of food products.
