#8: Final Fantasy Legend
So, this is probably one of the best games on the list in terms of overall value. It's like, a massive game that seems to go on forever. Which is kind of why it's so low down; the interesting thing about this game, it seems, is the fact that it was never released in Europe. Well, I got it from a store over here, so I guess it was >_>. I'm pretty sure that I got it as a result of my dad hogging Final Fantasy VII and I figured that by getting a portable version he couldn't access it. Except, here's the thing: even with a god-damned walkthrough, I couldn't get past like, the third boss. I revisited it a couple years ago, managed to beat a couple more bosses and then got stuck once again. Add to that the fact that the levelling system for half the characters was bizarre and just downright annoying, it really wasn't an amazing game - so this is as far as Legend goes.


#7: Killer Instinct
I very clearly remember the story behing buying Killer Instinct. Having become addicted to Battle Arena Toshinden (which I'll cover in full detail when I get to the Playstation games), I wanted a fighting game for the Game Boy. My dad lied and said that Toshinden wasn't on the Game Boy (IT WAS!) and even proceeded to say there weren't any fighting games for the Game Boy. The next day, we went shopping and I found Killer Instinct, so his plan kind of backfired and he ended up getting it for me out of guilt. See what I was like? Anyway, the game itself...was alright. Okay graphics, gameplay...just nothing special about it - it was kind of bland.

#6: F1 Race
This probably should be below Killer Instinct, actually, because at least Killer Instinct had characters. This suffered from the FIFA problem: namely, there were no "characters" as such and you just raced against a number of random, indistinguishible cars around a racetrack. Furthermore, it wasn't even challenging: most of it was simply try not to go off the track, try not to hit the other cars as you pass them (because they're going considerably slower than you) and try and finish in the top three. Because if you didn't, you lose. Which isn't exactly true to real F1, but...yeah. The saving grace for this game was the tracks themselves, because to this day some of them still prove a little bit of a challenge to me thanks to the corners and stuff. An average game, but I do seem to remember playing it a lot as a kid, so...it's fairly high up on this list.

Alright, every game from now on are the ones that I seriously do <3333, so there's a fair old gap between #6 and #5.


#5: Dr. Mario
Ah, Dr. Mario. First of all, a little story: I was on holiday in Florida with my family, and the hotel we were staying in had this in-room game console kind of thing. Dr. Mario was on said console, and I fell in love with it. So, when we got back home, we were shopping and what happens to catch my eye? Dr. Mario for the Game Boy! Now, here's the thing: Dr. Mario's gameplay can never be taken away from it. It's always fun, and always can be a challenge. There's two problems, however, which is why it's only #5: first of all, Dr. Mario...can get a little boring. There's only one mode to speak of - but the biggest problem comes when you move it to the Game Boy. With its lack of colour. That box is severely misleading, because bright colours would certainly add a little to that game. Unfortunately, on the Game Boy, you're using the dazzling combo or black, grey and white pills. Slightly less fun, shockingly.
