The networks were all finally at full strength with fresh Wednesday episodes last night; the 18-49 scores: 4.3 Modern Family
* ABC's "Modern Family," likely the best-reviewed new show of fall, came out on top for the night alongside slotmate "Cougar Town." The pair took out a lot of tough competition at the 9 p.m. hour, including "Criminal Minds," "Glee," and "Law & Order: SVU," which plummeted a terrifying 34% from its 10 p.m. 2008 premiere. * In the sitcom realm, only Monday's "Big Bang Theory" (4.6) and "Two and a Half Men" (4.4) have pulled higher numbers than "Modern" and "Cougar" this autumn. * "SVU" has been the strongest of the "Law & Orders" for years now and was, if I remember correctly, NBC's top-rated scripted show at the end of last season. Could this fourth-place finish finally signal the end of the 20-year-old franchise on broadcast television? * "Mercy" debuted in the lower middle of the 8 p.m. pack, ahead of "Top Model" and "Old Christine" but behind "Gary Unmarried" and the two dance shows. * "Leno's" number, better than Monday but weaker than Tuesday, left him for the third night in a row the weakest of the big-four shows. * "The Beautiful Life" drew an abyssmal 1.1 million viewers, compared to the 2.5 million "Veronica Mars" averaged during its final year three seasons ago.

Looks like a hit for Ms. Cox-Arquette!
Is Jennifer Aniston somewhere crying her eyes out right now?! I hope! |

Yes... you are the only one... This statement also confuses me... I can understand personally not liking a show but why actually be glad other people didn't like/watch it? Strange.

Oh, I didn't really mean it that way. It's just that I thought Modern Family was the stronger of the two shows and the fact that the people who stayed
for MF didn't all stay for Cougar Town was reassuring.
Not that ratings = quality. Just nice to know that others seemed to share my opinion. |

This was hilarious. So many great one liners and I LOVED the scenes with the neighbor. Especially after she yelled at her son for the violence and then she
shoves the neighbor to the ground, the kid shouts out the window "There's no need for violence, MOM!" And the footsie pajama picture.
This+Modern Family is a great combo. They need to both stay, it's been a loooooooooong time since ABC had good comedies. |

Random Musings:
- It was pretty good. Very entertaining. - Maybe I'm surfacing my inner prude but that shit was pretty fucking dirty. Seriously, every thing was about fucking and the whole going down on him and pre-teens whacking off seemed a little bit off for me for regular TV. I could see this on cable instead. - The whole cougar/milf thing is a good angle, but I hate it when they make people pathetic. Courtney Cox is what 42 years old? It's clear that the flap thing (stomach/legs) was someone else. Did you see her in the bike kid flash or the black lingerie? She may be one of the most fuckable 42 years old earth. She's not pathetic. Every guy with a dick that works (even the ghey ones) would line up to hit that. Sure, she's a 42 year old divorced mother, but she's fucking hotter than 90% of the chicks 20 years younger than her. - I could understand the next door neighbor as the one struggling. She was smoking on Drew Carey and she looks old, bloated and faded. That makes sense. I'll still watch it. Interesting. |

I think you people are nuts. I thought this show really sucked.
Im also a cougar on the prowl and I have sons in High School, so I thought I could relate, but not at all- first of all I would NEVER say anything sexual to my sons or to their friends. It's creepy and borders on pedophilia. Not a joke, not a single comment, not a look. EEEWWWW,,,,really fucking ew. It just seemed totally fakey fake sit com BS with no relationship to reality. Like when she said to her son "Ill show everyone the picture of you and your friend holding each other penis" whatever, no one would ever say anything like that to their kid.....I actually changed it after 20 minutes I couldnt take the phoniness of the whole show so maybe the last 10 minutes were side splitting.... |

I liked it even more than Modern Family. I really enjoyed everything about this show, and Courtney Cox really nailed her role. Solid supporting cast, too.
Definitely my favorite new sitcom this year. |

Ethel Mae Potter wrote:The fact that you actually typed that is sad. I would think any woman with a semblance of self esteem/substance would avoid the "cougar" label like the plague. It's as bad as "milf". It's the female version of "I'm a wild and crazy guyyyy!" line thirty years later. O_o |
