They should have fireworks, unless they're retarded like Chicago and having them on the 3rd.

I used to live there. I loved it. Avoid 4th street that is college kids puking. Stay on 6th and Congress the warehouse district and head over to the Hotel San
Jose. Jo's they have the best coffee in town I think. I don't know if the Star bar is still there but I loved the joint.

As a Houstonian, I have to say that the traffic in Austin is worse than it is here. The hills are really pretty, though.

Kerby Lane Cafe for good breakfasts, but beware of stoned waiters/waitresses - we go to the one on Guadalupe
Excellent fish tacos at Changos on Guadalupe near the university The head/main Whole Foods is there for entertainment, check out the Austin Chronicle: Link we go up there a lot. and if you like to shop, about 30-40 miles down the freeway is San Marcos with two huge outlet malls |

Austin is a pretty progressive place, for Texas. Lots of good bars/bands around due to the UT campus being there. Also some cultural stuff, too. Not as
obnoxious as Dallas/not as blue collar as Houston/not as fucked up as San Antonio/enjoy yourself!
