Nice to see Lakers fans clinging to that regular season sweep. Yep, you got embarrassed in the NBA finals, but you sure showed the Greatics with those regular
season wins.
I can't blame them, though. Usually when the Lakers make it to the finals it isn't pretty (15-15). The Greatics go and it's usually a lock (17-3). Especially head to head. 9-2, are you serious? How is that a rivalry? |

Too lazy to find the Magic score right now, but as I slowly start to get into a basketball frame of mind, I can say with confidence they are the deepest team
in the league this year. Not saying they are the best, but probably the deepest.
They go 9 or maybe even 10 deep and are really going to be able to stretch their bench when the situation calls for it. Jayson Williams was quietly one of the better off-season moves. If Stan Van can keep his cool (which is a BIG if) and VC can comprimise and adjust within in his new role (which he can), you have to be able to at the very least entertain the argument that they are the best team in the East. The only thing I know for certain after 2 nights of play... the TNT crew is still the best on TV for any sport. |

Maybe Tim Donaghy's book is total bullshit, but I could totally see a lot of this really happening. Guess David Stern is just Vince McMahon with better PR? To have a little fun at the expense of the worst troublemakers, the referees working the game would sometimes make a modest friendly wager amongst themselves: first ref to give one of the bad boys a technical foul wouldn't have to tip the ball boy that night. In the NBA, ball boys set up the referees' locker room and keep it stocked with food and beer for the postgame meal. We usually ran the kid ragged with a variety of personal requests and then slipped him a $20 bill. Technically, the winner of the bet won twice-he didn't have to pay the kid and he got to call a T on Mr. Foul-Mouthed Big-Shot Du Jour. Also never knew about Steve Javie-Allen Iverson feud or that there were still people in this day and age who could idolize Isiah Thomas. GROSS! |

Was at the Raptors game last night. I think we have a good team this year.
Bargnani really stepped up. He got two really cheap fouls, which the ref should have let go of one of them at the very least. It was during the flow of the game, and no worse than Shaq or LeBron did to Bargnani all night and got away with. The ref's sure do love LeBron! I was most impressed with Belilleni who could end up stating if Demar doesn't start dunking pretty soon! Turkoglu was adjusting to the system still, but i think it made everyone on the Cavaliers a little more honest. There was some real promise with a bunch of the other guys. Bosh needs to get rid of those locks, and get tougher on defence for them to have a chance at a championship....and the could become champions. |

Last night, Carmelo Anthony stole an outlet pass and went in for a monster dunk. Nice all-round game with thirty points, eight reebs and five assists.
He's my darkhorse for league MVP. He's in killer shape and seems to have turned the corner maturity-wise. |

I see we're going back to the 60s again. remember when the Celtics won a gazilion titles like 40 yrs ago even though I wasn't born to experience any
of those champ/ships? wow you sure showed me.
Especially head to head. 9-2, are you serious? How is that a rivalry? using that logic, the Yankees have owned the Red Sox for nearly a century. 26 titles compared to 7 for the Red Sox. zomg are you serious? how is that a rivalry?!! yeah you sound ridiculous. the bottom line is the Lakers were never irrelevant for 20 yrs like the Celtics. hell, up until a few years ago, most ppl forgot that Boston had a basketball team. see, the Lakers are the prime attraction in LA while the Celtics are the #3 team in Beantown. oh well, at least you have a sports maven like StarRider on your side. |

and the Greatics got owned by the Suns. that's what happens when they play a team from the superior conference.
Kobe and LeBron on the same team??? if that happens, they should just shut down the league and declare the Lakers champions for the next 10 years. lololol |

Realistically his window as an elite level player will drop soon in the next 2-4 years. With all the recent rule changes the last few years which put an emphasis on scoring Bryant will be a liability once his speed goes . It's hard to see any team contending for a title with 2 guard like that. |
