Pignolis suck. Try a nice bunch of roasted pistachios or raw almonds as a delicious alternative.
Yum. |

you don't want it to flower cause the plant will basically die. if you keep pinching it back, you;ll get more leaves

Pine nuts, pignolis, pignolias, pinyon, piƱon nuts. All the same.

Ok thx Beep...as you see from the pic above I have a lot of leaves already...when I started those a month ago they were about 2 inches tall each. That's 5
plants.

very cool. I planted about a dozen or so of them in my herb garden, their stalks are like logs right now. freaking huge. I should start on my pesto soon. Last
year I ended up with I think 7 quarts of it. of course I had something like 3 dozen plants last eyar.

oops, not quarts! lol, the smaller big jelly jar size, 1/2 quart maybe? whatever.

Also once they start putting energy into flowering the leaves lose a lot of their flavor. Those look like they are getting ready to bloom so snip them pretty
soon.

So I just cut off the tops of each plant right?

I would go about half way down. You want to at least leave two sets of leaves for new growth to form. Did you buy them as plants or seeds? Basil is so fast and
easy to grow from seed you can pretty much just cut the whole thing back and start new ones from seed every few weeks. I had a friend who grew basil
aeroponically in a greenhouse and she would just harvest the entire plant.

I grew them from plants I got at Home Depot.
