Well, was it his/her fault? How many other kids were in the car? Was he/she on the cell phone? What happened? Tell us and then we can decide if you can beat
the kid until he/she is black and blue.
Also, restricting driving privileges to where he/she can only drive with a parent present for the next year will help him/her wise up. And for gosh sakes, make the kid earn the insurance deductible to pay for the repairs AND make the kid get a job to pay for their own coverage moving forward. And does anyone have any suggestions on how I can get my 85 year old mom to STOP SCRAPING my car when she backs out of the garage? Dayum, I am parked all the way over along the wall of the house, and she can't keep the wheel straight as she backs out of the garage to clear my car in the driveway. If I was a mean daughter, I would make her park outside and protect my SUV from her ravages. Sigh. She is 85, what to do? Other than hitting my car, and scraping a low wall along a lake shore drive the other day, she pretty much doesn't hit others or drive stupid. I am not even getting the rub marks off my fender repaired until she is no longer driving. Why waste the money?

Too bad the other driver wasn't a girl with a .182 BAC.

Cars can be replaced, yes premiums will go up but you still have your kid.
Shit happens. Glad they're okay. |

My daughter stole my car once, sleep-over with her Chicana friend, her dad a cop, never would have thought. . . Came home safe, though, five hours later,
pacifiers hanging from their jaws (love the nineties).

How do you not see an oncoming car while making a U-turn? I call bullshit, you should beat her.

Ah, well the kid was on the way to work. Had done a nice thing by loaning her car to Grandma who needed it. Forgive her. Accidents do happen. Because she had
loaned her car to the grandma, suggest splitting the deductible with her. And again, be glad she is ok.
My nephew fell asleep at the wheel on a 2 lane county highway in IL on his way back down to U of I from Chicago late one night when he was in grad school. He for a split second lost that attention/consciousness. If that split second had even been a fraction earlier, he would have hit a semi truck head on. Instead, he bounced off the driver's side of the cab and his car went 500 feet into a field before it came to a stop. Had he been up here in MI, more than likely he would have hit trees head on, instead of an open field. We were lucky 2 ways, he didn't hit the truck head on and there were no trees on the side of the road. The truck cab's step for the driver was slightly bent, that is all. The kid was driving his brand new Buick Le Sabre, it was totaled. He was totally unhurt. We were very lucky. Of course the truck driver sued him for all kinds of injuries (guy was walking around, not hurt that night). We are not sure what the insurance settle with the guy for. It probably was not that much. I am not sure what his insurance went up. However, kudos to my sister, she did not buy him a brand new car, he had to use the insurance settlement to buy a used car, which he still drives now. He no longer drives when he is tired. We could have lost our only family member of that generation in one split second. My sister would never have gotten over it if he had been killed. We were very lucky. |

She wasn't driving, it was some guy she was giving road head to. She was already at work.

I'm going with the "forgiveness".
She is so freaked out, poor thing. I don't have the heart to do anything but calm her down and tell her it's gonna be ok. Plus, in 20 years she can say "Remember when I wrecked your car, Mom, and you were so sweet to me?" |

She'll say that to her Reichian therapist. ("I have seen your policeman naked.")

Did you get her checked out in case she hurt her back or anything? And there are terrific deals out there right now to replace cars, remember 1000 dealers were
fired recently. What kind of car was wrecked? Sounds like you are doing a good job as a mom. You kid appears to have values.
