I take Ativan every time I fly. I usually hate drugs but there are times I want to be knocked out cold.

Taper, taper, taper.
Benzos are a stone cold bitch to go cold turkey from - horrible. Do it slowly, slowly, slowly. The withdrawal symptoms were seriously the worst thing I have ever been through. I tried to do cold turkey for a week and thought I was dying. It took me 3 months to taper off. I hate my doc for prescribing those things for me because it does not take long at all to become dependent. Plus, going cold turkey is dangerous - you can have seizures and shit. Lila <3 |

I don't know about Ativan as I've never taken it on a regular basis. Just for flying and dinner with mom. But I tapered off Paxil and that was no fun.
It was 12 weeks of something like the worst PMS of my life, but also with electric shocks in my brain and wild mood swings. And the dreams were totally crazy
wild.

if ativan is like xanax it's a benzo drug...very addicting...if a person has been on the medication for a long period, tolerance builds and sudden
cessation can cause siezures and acute pain along with sweating, paranoia, vomiting, fever

How much is the person taking? The person (you) needs to contact the prescribing doctor (unless you *I mean your friend* are getting them illegally)...and tell
them they want to stop. The doctor knows the dosage (if it's being followed per the prescription) and will guide, professionally, the patient down with the
proper tapering dosage.

no i called in the script - it's not illegal - he just has to wait another 9 days to get the script filled for free - but today he can get it filled if he
pays 30 bucks. He is on medicaid.
He doesnt want to stop. It is the med for him - like I said the empty bottle is freaking him out. The ativan really helps his seratonin levels. |
