Didn't Erika say worse things in her season? Do people just expect more from Jade since she's more talented and better looking than Erika? Why be so hard on Jade and let Erika get away with a slap on her wrist?

BBUK is bigger than BBUS...plus Erikas was one shitty comment, Jade made it into a sort of victim/bully situation and constantly going and going on about it.

I doubt 99.9999% of the people in India or the UK have heard of anyone ever on the US Big Brother. Those were most of the people who were upset about Jade's comments.
The comments against Shilpa blew up to an even larger level than they normally would have because she's a Bollywood actress and she has many fans. Even beyond these fans (since some have said her career has seen better days), I'm sure many people in India took offense at anyone who was basically an ambassador of their country being treated that way. Not just the racist comments, but being treated like shit because of what she was. They took the abuse against her as being not only about her, but about all of India. There are long-standing issues between India and the United Kingdom which caused most of the controversy. |

Jade (and her pesky group) went on for hours, while Erika's tangent was momentary. The group as a whole have spawned numerous filthy comments from their sewage infested mouths. Erika's one off the cuff remark, well, I'm sure there's plenty of similar nonesuch in other US seasons that wasn't shown.

Erika is worse. She knew exactly what she was saying when she said it and her subsequent posts over at the fishbowl have pretty much proven that she does NOT regret her comments.
Jade is about half Erika's age and really really stupid on top of that. British people just get way more invested in their Big Brother and dumbass media whores so it blew up more. Channel 4 even stated that there was no "overt" racism in the BBUK house. If Jade had said the stuff that Erika said, it definitely would have been considered overt and she could have been booted out for it. |

Okay, so I've finally caught up on CBBUK5 so now I know what everyone's talking about!
 Except for her inexplicable popularity on the BB4 polls, I don't think Erika was given a slap on the wrist -- she's still called Erikkka more than enough times (although personally I think Scrubika is more all-encompassing). Ivette never got away with what she said about Kaysar, either. Jade went into the show as a "celebrity", well-known and already having a set of fans + critics -- she deserves everything gets from the media. I can only hope that Danielle and Jack get it too. I don't what she is famous for other than being on BBUK3, so I'm not exactly sure what constitutes talent in her case. I think many Americans would be surprised to learn that BBUS is even still on the air; the show just isn't as popular whereas BB is something of a cultural event in the UK. |
