95. Maria Elena Camerin
Country : Italy Birthday : March 21, 1982 (27) Current WTA Ranking : 93 Highest Ranking : 41 (October 11, 2004) WTA Tour Titles : 0 Best Results at Grand Slams Australian Open - 3R (2006) (2007) French Open - 2R (2004) Wimbledon - 2R (2003) (2004) US Open - 2R (2003) (2004) (2005) (2007) (2008) Olympics - N/A ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()
So I guess this is hard on my audience since im listing players that only a tennis freak like myself would ever know. lol. Im just trying to race past these first 30 so we can get into the players that even casual tennis fans would know. But as for Maria. Ok so its obvious this is not the greatest tennis player ever. Camerin has had a very small impact on the tennis world, but I like her for some bizarre reason. Some of her accomplishments incluse small independent tournaments. She won two small ITF circuits back in 2002 and has won some small doubles tournaments. She is more of a successfull doubles player rather than a singles player. Some of her notable matches was the close upset of Serena Williams in the 2007 US open where she almost took the first set off, but Serena was able to close the first set 7-5 and then went on to win in the second. Last year at Wimbledon she went out in the first round to Elena Dementieva but was able to take the second set off of her in a tiebreak. Not a very notable player but shes been around awhile. She loves Jennifer Capriati so thats a plus, and she plays doubles with Gisela Dulko, another plus. Ive only seen her play twice and shes just average.

94. Alexa Glatch
Country : USA Birthday : September 10, 1989 Current WTA Ranking : 105 Highest Ranking : 105 (June 8, 2009) WTA Tour Titles : 0 Best Results at Grand Slams Australian Open - N/A French Open - 2R (2009) Wimbledon - N/A US Open - 2R (2005) Olympics - N/A ![]() ![]()
Ladies and gentleman, meet the future of American Tennis. The name is Alexa Glatch. I dont really know what it is about Alexa but im just not really on her support group yet. But she is very talented. She along with the United States team are in the fed cup final which makes me laugh my ass off since neither Venus or Serena played and the next highest ranked player was Sands at 45 who lost all her rubbers followed by Alexa ranked around 112 at the time. And they are in the finals against Italy. lmao. But I will defenetly give credit to Alexa. She played very well in the Fed Cup semi final against the Czech Republic basically handing Benesova her ass on a platter. Some of the boards are buzzing about Alexa as the new thing in american tennis which I guess is fine but shes almost 20 years old and not even in the top 100 yet. Not a good sign if you ask me but we will see what she can do. She played very well this year at the FO, dismantaling the 14th seed Pennetta is the first round with a score of like 6-1 6-2. I was pissed man, let me tell ya. lol but kudos to her.

Out of the entire freaking Continents of the Americas there are only about 8 or so who are ranked higher. Her accomplishments in the proper context are pretty stunning. Has anyone else from her country even played at Tour Level. |

93. Angela Haynes
Country : USA Birthday : September 27, 1984 Current WTA Ranking : 138 Highest Ranking : 95 (August 22, 2005) WTA Tour Titles : 0 Best Results at Grand Slams Australian Open - 1R (2005) French Open - 1R (2005) Wimbledon - 1R (2005) US Open - 3R (2004) Olympics - N/A ![]()
Now of all the tennis players that we have seen on my list Angela is probably the least accomplished of the bunch but there are a few reasons why I ranked her in my top 100. For one, for a player who has really struggled in breaking through she had an impressive Indian Wells tournament earlier in 2009. Indian Wells, like Miami is probably the most prestigous tournaments on the tour with the exception of the 4 grandslams, the year end championsips and the olympics. Angela made it to the 4th round, the first time she had some success in quite some time. And if I remember correctly she had to go through three rounds of qualifying to even play in the tournament. Or maybe she was a wildcard? Who knows? But I was just so impressed and happy with her play that I put her on one of my favorites lists. And also, from what I hear she was on the verge of becoming a promising talent when she was struck with tragedy in her own family. I think something happened to her brother but dont quote me on it. Im just trying to think of a rumor I heard over at tennisforum. But still I hope she can get her rankin up and play a few more good tournaments bue due to her lack of success I cant rank her any higher. |

92. Corina Morariu
Country : United States Birthday : January 26, 1978 Current WTA Ranking : Retired Highest Ranking : 29 (August 24, 1998) WTA Tour Titles : 1 (A Tier IV Event) Best Results at Grand Slams Australian Open - 2R (1998) French Open - 2R (1998) (2000) (2003) Wimbledon - 3R (1998) (1999) US Open - 2R (1997) Olympics - N/A ![]() ![]()
Now Corina is the only person on my list ive never actually seen play. The only reason why she makes it on my list is because of her commentary on tennis channel. She commentates on basically every tournament and she is amazing. Now in terms of her tennis obviously she was never really great in singles but in doubles Morariu has some amazing results. Mainly known as a doubles specialist, she won the women's doubles title at Wimbledon in 1999 with Davenport. She also won the mixed doubles title at the 2001 Australian Open and reached the women's doubles final with Davenport yet again in 2005. But like I said I enjoy her commentary for tennis channel and that lands her a spot on my list at 92. In fact shes on tennis channel right now. lol.. *Waves to Corina.

Wow, first off awful pictures but since shes relatively new its hard to find some decent pictures of her. But whatever. Like I said she is new to the singles portion and trying to make a breakthrough but its her doubles that she is better at. I did see her play the doubles at this years FO against Serena and Venus and I was lmao. It was getting very late and very cold and ESPN commentators Mary Carillo and Pam Shriver were commentating on the skankiness of Lucie. It was dark and cold, temperature was like I think 51. Venus and Serena were wearing sleeves and pants as was Lucies partner, but Lucie herself was wearing like a tank top and short shorts. Like woman, get dressed, its cold. lol. But it was fun hearing Mary and Pam poke fun of her. I hope to see Lucie rise up the rankings cause she could be a realy funny character to watch for in the future. |

89. Severine Bremond
Country : France Birthday : August 14, 1979 (29) Current WTA Ranking : 95 Highest Ranking : 34 (February 5, 2007) WTA Tour Titles : 0 Best Results at Grand Slams Australian Open - 2R (2009) French Open - 2R (2005) Wimbledon - QF (2006) US Open - 4R (2008) Olympics - N/A ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()
Now Severine was kind of a WTF choice for me to include on my list. She does have a very nice overall game but nothing thats so threatning that would enable her to become a dangerous player. In fact I really dont know all so much about her since ive only seen her play a few times last time being at the 4th round of the 2008 US Open where Serena Williams beat her pretty badly, like 6-2 6-2. Perhaps I shouldve ranked her lower but seeing how I forgot about her it seems fitting for her to be bumped a few spots up. lol. Bremonds only real victory came at Wimbledon 2006 were se was a surprise quaterfinalist defeating Schnyder and Dulko along the way and I happen to like those two players more than her so maybe I shouldve taken out Bremond and replaced her with Sybille Bammer who is a more deserving spot for this countdown. lolz |

So here we have our first Russian to appear on the list and if anyone knows anything about tennis they would know that tennis and Russia is like cake and ice cream. Whatever the hell that means. lol. Basically im just saying that Russia as produced some emaculate tennis stars. Most people would be happy with a ranking of 45 but in Russian terms that is abysmal. I put Makarova on this list because I think shes a player to watch out for in the near future. She is still young and has some nice talent. She beat Anna Chakvetadze a 2007 US Open semi finalist in the first round of the US Open 2008. Ended up 3rd round overall but still I say watch out for this one.

87. Urszula Radwanska
Country : Poland Birthday : December 7, 1990 (18) Current WTA Ranking : 71 Highest Ranking : 71 (June 8, 2009) WTA Tour Titles : 0 Best Results at Grand Slams Australian Open - Qualifying Round 3 (2009) French Open - 1R (2009) Wimbledon - 2R (2008) US Open - Qualifying Round 2 (2008) Olympics - N/A ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()
So here we have the first sister to arrive. Currently there are 3 pairs of sisters ranked in the top 100 on the WTA tour. The Williams sisters, the Bondarenko sisters, and now the Radwanska sisters. All 6 will appear on the list but Urszula shows up first. Now believe me, the Radwanska sisters are no Venus and Serena and they never will be but Urszulas older sister Agnieszka is already an established top 10 player. But Urszula is finally having her breakout year. She made a surprising run at Indian Wells earlier this year making the fourth round. She could defenetly improve cause if she can display the kind of talent her sister possess she can be a real danger in the future. Not a whole lot else to say about her but keep an eye out. |

86. Vitalia Diatchenko

Now I only just heard of Vitalia Diatchenko like 2 weeks ago when she made her grand slam debut at the French Open. I really dont have much of an opinion on her just yet but there is one reason why she is on this list. And its her squeal. This girl has the mostunusual sounding squeal ive ever heard. I was fortunate to see her play and hear it first hand since she had to play World Nunber 1 Dinara Safina in the second round. Prior to that the boards were commenting that she sounded like a pig and boy does she ever. First time I heard it I literally lol. Its so precious. I was only able to find one youtube video of it since all the others had music in the background and for some reason people that upload videosthink tennis fans wanna hear music instead of the match. Yeah fucking right. But enjoy it kinda sucks but just picture it louder cause thats how it sounded. |

85. Jessica Moore
Country : Australia Birthday : August 16, 1990 (18) Current WTA Ranking : 147 Highest Ranking : 132 (October 27, 2008) WTA Tour Titles : 0 Best Results at Grand Slams Australian Open - 2R (2008) (2009) French Open - N/A Wimbledon - Qualifying Round 1 (2008) US Open - 2R (2008) Olympics - N/A ![]()
Now again I will say I really only put Jessica on the list for shallow reasons. Shes cute, ill give her that but she still has ways to go before she becomes a force in tennis. I saw her play at the Australian Open 2009 when ESPN featured her match to show her opponent 16 year old Christina Mchale, a possible top 50 american player in the future. Jessica however won the match with like a crazy scoreline in the 3rd set. Something like 10-8 or 8-6 . Christina was reduced to #+@!$ but ill save that for her write up. But Jessica showed some power and obviously her being Australian really had the support of the crowd. It was rather funny since shes like so scrawny and pencil thin and to see her fired up scuuuured me. lol. But I continue to keep an eye out for her and see what she can do. Jessica Moore defeats Christina Mchale.
