bbc: Chinese police have ringed Tiananmen Square, to prevent people marking the 20th anniversary of the massacre. but it's nice they created a commemorative umbrella-ella-ella dance.

They did do a pretty good job with the Olympics ya know.They did indeed. A friend of mine travels to China about once a month. He was staying in the area near the site of the Bird's Nest or whatever the stadium was called. One week he was there and there was an apartment building and some shops. Then there was a lot of criticism about how there was no greenery at all in the area. About three weeks later he came back and the whole area was razed and there was a beautiful park. I think someone else posted here about a similar experience in China leading up the Olympics. Nothing like some serious efficiency in achieving one's aims. |
