Just a factual question -- what's the current legal status of partial-birth abortion? I thought they were banned a few years back except in select circumstances, and SCOTUS upheld the law in a 5-4 decision.
From what I understand the law banning the procedure was declared unconstitutional because it didn't protect for the life of the mother and the republicans that passed the bill refused to have an allowance for the mothers health (remember McCains sneer about the mothers health) and it's a grey area and that there are only a few providers in the country (this man in Wichita being one of them) that are willing to perform the procedure (although from my understanding there are other later term abortion procedures that are used instead of this one).
It's not like you can just run down to planned parenthood and get an abortion after the first trimester and be home for dinner.
