Plenty of poor people raise kids. Plenty of single moms raise kids. Plenty of people weren't ready or didn't want their lifestyle to change. But they deal with it.Yes, they deal with it. And sometimes that means getting financial assistance from the government. If you're gonna bitch about that, then STFU about abortion. Not everyone has family that can help out, by the way. Your understanding of others' struggles in life seems a bit lacking.

There's absolutely nothing wrong with using government assistance for what it was intended.....a stepping stone. Temporary help. Conservatives (for the
most part) have an issue with the people who make it a lifestyle.

I'm for ways of helping people if they absolutely need the help, but using it as a broad excuse for shirking personal responsibility doesn't cut it.
"Are you going to pay for it? Are you going to adopt it?" No, the people who did it should. If they need help, there are private and public programs
to help. It does exist.
How many power couples have the vajajay vacuumed out because it will impact on their urbane lifestyles? How many rich folks drive their daughters to the clinic because they just don't want to deal with it when they really could? |

And those kids that are unwanted are born to parents who resent them and don't teach them the alphabet so they never learn to read so they can't get a
job so they rob your house and sell drugs to your kid (luckily they can't make change so your kid gets a good price)

Like Minkster said, I encourage programs that help someone get a step up. Not to live on forever.
What people here have said is "Are you going to adopt them? Are you going to pay for them?" Personally. Not programs. Personally. My answer is hell no. It's the duo's responsibility to do that. Help should come from family first, then programs. |

No, it's also middle class and wealthy teenagers who don't want to be poor, or who don't want to mooch off their parents (if their parents will
even allow them to) because they don't have the skills to support themselves and a child.
I don't think that there are many middle class educated/employed women that have abortions. Mostly because those women aren't accidentally pregnant because they know how to take their pills every day. Making someone who can't even be responsible enough to take their birth control pills effectively the responsibility of caring for a child that they don't want is a recipe for disaster. And don't give me the Adoption argument. Because it's not easy to give a baby up for adoption even if you want too. In many communities it's considered worse to give your baby up for adoption than to have an abortion (which you can do quietly). If the paternal grandparent says no, then you're stuck with the kid.

kids often are not educated about contraception nor are given easy access to it. if you want them to take personal responsibility, at least make sure they are
educated and able to easily take advantage of the resources. otherwise, you are just setting them up for failure.
i have a few friends who work at pregnancy centers and they've told me that a large percentage of the late-term abortions who walk in the door are also the result of incest. the girls are often so ashamed, they don't tell anyone until late in the pregnancy. or they can't tell anyone because it's their dad or granddad or someone and they'll beat them up or refuse to let them get an abortion. it's totally fucked up. |
