Grilling can be an artform. As such, you need to have the right media at hand to perform artistry. Having the sideburner is very useful, especially when you are sauteeing stuff like onions, garlic, and peppers! It can also be tremendously helpful when you need to keep a large pot going without heating up your whole house/apartment/condo/CONEX box.

Question: Would raising the entire grill solve the problem? They sell these things that people use to raise their beds and a buddy of mine used them to raise his grill on his condo's deck. It worked for him, it might work for you!

Bottom line...don't get rid of the sideburner unless all else fails. The first time you need it and have it will make up for the problem.
