#38 Kennedy/The Potentials

Kennedy was the potential who stood out the most, becoming Willow's lesbian lover. Sadly, she was also one of the most annoying of them, and the Willow/Kennedy relationship did not work for me at all. Tara/Oz >>> Kennedy. She has no redeeming qualities, and that's why she and the other potentials are ranked last.

#37 Riley Finn

Let me first say there's a huge gap between #38 and #37. Where I hate Kennedy and the other potentials, I don't really hate Riley. He was a poor replacement for Angel as Buffy's love interest, and he lasted way too long. If he only had been on for a few episodes, I would probably have ranked him a lot higher. He had some redeeming qualities, like having some funny lines and being pretty good looking.

My biggest problem with him was mainly that he was really boring, and did not add much to the show. Also, I really did not like the season 4 plot involving him and the Initiative. He was pathetic in season 5 too, getting off by letting vampires feed on him. Thankfully he and Buffy broke up early in that season, and he left Sunnydale to fight demons in another black ops army unit. That was not the last we would see of Riley however, he returned in season 6 for one episode "As You Were", which coincidentally is one of my least favourite episodes ever. Unlike the potentials, he/the Initiative did not really ruin the season though. Season 4 was definitely weaker than season 2 or 3, but it also had some really standout episodes like 'Hush'.

#36 Adam

Speaking of the Initiative, Adam was supposed to be the "big bad" of season 4. In my opinion he was easily the worst major villain the show ever had. He walked around philosophizing, dissecting people and demons to get a better understanding of nature or some rubbish like that. He tried to make a demon army or something, but it was all pretty pathetic.

Adam got his ass handed to him by Buffy/Willow/Xander/Giles, combining their powers and invoking the power of the First Slayer. I don't know why they never did that again later, as it seemed pretty efficient. It could for instance see it being handy when they were fighting a god in the next season, but whatever. There's not really much to say about Adam, he was just a very mediocre villain.

I'm not a big fan of the first 5-10 people that show up, luckily pretty much all of the characters after that are kick-ass awesome. Some clues for the next 3 to appear:

#35 Professor Maggie Walsh

As I stated earlier, I really hated the plot line with the Initative. I just re-watched season 4, and it wasn't really as bad as I remembered though… But I still hate it. As for Maggie; I kinda liked her at first. She introduced herself as 'The Evil Bitch-Monster of Death', which I thought was pretty awesome. Sadly it went downhill from there. She clearly wanted to bone Riley, but got killed by her other 'son' Adam before she got the chance - she still didn't go away entirely though, she returned as a walking corpse in "Primeval", the season's penultimate episode. She also failed epically in trying to kill Buffy; two random demons and a defect weapon enough to kill the Slayer? Sigh. My favourite thing about Maggie was how much Giles hated her, and when he ran after her in the episode he had been transformed to a demon

#34 Kendra

At least she looked fierce! I liked the idea of a second slayer being called when Buffy 'died' the first time, but Kendra didn't really do that much other than annoy me. I think her accent was supposed to be Jamaican, but I'm not 100% sure. It was absolutely horrible in any case, and made me want to kill myself listening to it. She wasn't a horrible character, but she annoyed the shit out of me. Thank God Drusilla slit her throat at the end of season 2, paving way for a much better 2nd slayer in the next season<333

#33 Principal Robin Wood

Yes, he was as boring as he looks in the picture. Another character that I had great expectations for, but he ended up being pretty forgettable. His mom was a slayer that had been killed by Spike, and Wood tried to get revenge. This could have turned out awesome, but it really didn't. I enjoyed the flashbacks to Spike meeting Wood's kick-ass mother a lot more than seeing Wood confront Spike. For some reason, Giles wanted Spike dead as well (one of many retarded things that didn't make sense in season 7 ), so he tries to distract Buffy while Wood kills Spike. Obviously Spike kicks Wood's ass, but (sadly?) doesn't kill him. He also acted as a love interest for Faith, or well at least they had a one night stand. Oh, and he was the new principal at Sunnydale's high school and Buffy's boss. He was pretty boring.

#32 The First Evil

I didn't find a good picture of the First, so I choose this really really random one that I found while looking for it instead After season 4's Adam, I find The First Evil to be the worst 'big bad'. The First could take on the form of dead people, or people who had died (including Buffy and vampires), but was non-corporal. I really liked The First in season 3, when it took on the form of Jenny Calendar (among others) in an episode to try to make Angel kill Buffy or himself. It really didn't do that much in season 7, except talking a lot and making Caleb +"The Harbringer's of Death" try to eliminate the Slayers and the potentials. I read that Joss Whedon wanted Tara to come back for the scene where The First Evil tries to talk Willow into killing herself, instead we got a random season 7 girl. Lame.

#31 Caleb

Season 7 slaughter! I love Nathan Fillion, but this guy was well boring. He was The First's boring, corporal sidekick. But I rank him above The First as he appeared in less episodes. I really cba to write more about him!

#30 Jesse

Now we are starting to get to the people I actually like a bit! Yay. Jesse was only in the first two episodes of the series, but he played a pretty big role in them. I liked his interactions with Willow and Xander, but still I'm kinda glad he got turned into a vampire and staked (by Xander) - I don't think he would have added much to the Scooby gang, he seemed a bit too much like Xander. I was surprised when I first surprised when I saw The Harvest for the first time - I didn't think Whedon would kill off what seemed like a big character in the second episode. I read that Whedon originally wanted to have Eric Balfour in the opening credits, just so that it would be even more shocking when he kicked the bucket.
