If you have only ever visited Baltimore, then you cannot possibly be qualified to talk about it. It's always "nice" to visitors. But believe me,
it's terrible to live there.

But the triumvirate of Newark, Jersey City and Candem all are worse. And Trenton is pretty bad, too. I don't think New Jersey has one decent city to it's name (and no, Cape May isn't a city). |

Orlando is a humid shithole and the only thing it has is Disney World/Universal. At least the beaches aren't terribly far away. |

What are you people basing any of this on? This thread is a silly self-pity, "my life is/was harder than yours" convention.

I used to love Inner Harbor. I just got back and it, well...'stunk'...literally. What's that about?

meatball77 wrote: Really? Like what? The only thing Baltimore has going it for is the Harber, but aside from New Years Eve (which is a given), nothing of interest happens down there. I guess since I live here and I've been there a 100x, I don't "appreciate" it...but it's really not that special at all. You can get bored of it reeeeeeeally fast. Certain parts of Baltimore though (very few) are incredibly nice, even if a little boring. But the vast majority is a huge fucking wasteland. I live in the county, which is the less shitty part, but still... Ughh. And the people here are so fucking tense! If you dare speak to them, they'll stare at you like you're crazy. If you say "hello" or "what's up," they look at you as if you want something more...like..."why is he speaking to me? What does he want? Leave me alone." They're always on guard. You can always tell when someone is not from Baltimore because they speak to you. People in Baltimore will stare at you, some will even stare right in your face, but they'll walk right past you and not say a word. That shit still pisses me off. If you're staring at someone...say something, shit! |

Yeaster wrote:I lived there for several years in the 80's and I have to agree with you. What was so frustrating was that it was so hard to meet people and become friends with native Baltimoreans. Even at work they were friendly enough, but never invited out-of-towners to their homes or to go out. With one exception, all the people I made friends with and still keep in touch were also relocated there. |

baltimore cannot be considered as worst because it has a harbor, a college town area and artsy neighbohoods - its not much but these make it instantly better
than so many yucky cities.

Wichita, Kansas
1. Residents voted down a casino. 2. A casino which would've been placed on the grossest part of the Arkansas River. 3. There's a plan for a Water Walk down by that gross river. 4. We have a new sports arena going in downtown. One that was said to be able to house an NCAA Tournament. It was recently released that it would not meet the guidelines of the NCAA. 5. Wichita State University has no college football team. |
