I liked them when I was in junior high because I thought it was funny they were singing about wanking off. Once I hit like 15-16 I had grown tired of them.

American Idiot was a masterpiece.
I'd counted these guys out long ago, but almost like Johnny Cash coming back with the American Recordings series, wham! they're suddenly good again. I saw them live once, too -- Billy Jo is one of the strangest looking people on the planet, but he knows how to rock. I'm looking forward to hearing the new album sometime this weekend. |

I bought it about a week ago, and I haven't reached the end yet cuz I listen to it in the shower. I only make it to song 6 or 7 and then I'm done. But
today I was smart. I started at song 6, and made it to song 12. Brilliant, yes? Oh and it's very good. I don't think it's as good as American Idiot
but I doubt they'll ever write anything that good again. That one is a masterpiece.

There must be another Green Day thread because I said this already, but the new album is to American Idiot as Insomniac was to Dookie. High expectations
rewarded with more of the same and nothing particularly memorable. It's another rock opera but after two times through I'm still not sure what it's
about.
American Idiot is the album of the decade as far as I'm concerned. Of course, it's pretty much the only rock album I've listened to this decade. |
