I want gay people to be able to have that same luxury of being just as open about it. Openly gay entertainers/celebs have done a lot to help our culture be more accepting of gay people. Adam is so beloved by so many people that I just think it would be cool if he would take that extra step of just coming out and saying it. That's all. If he wants to keep being coy about the obvious, that is his perogative. He doesn't have to take one for the team if he doesn't want to. I think Adam has said enough for us to know the facts. He's not denying he's gay which is a step Clay didn't take for 5 years. If people want to speculate, let them. It keeps them talking about him..... and as long as he's not acting like being gay is the worst thing in the world I don't have a problem with him not directly saying he likes dick even though that would be hot too Yes, it is a step forward from Clay's efforts to hide his sexuality. on that note, is it strange that I find the pictures of Adam with his tongue in that other guys mouth strangely erotic? I've never been interested in guy on guy action but with Adam? I might make the exception.... I can't blame you, he's hot. damn I've slipped over the edge haven't I?

There have been lots of reality show folks who are openly gay and there's the Queer Eye guys. I don't think that Perry Farrell ever hid his bi-sexuality. There were some openly gay musicians in the 80's (ie: The Bronski Beat) that were really popular. But even Boy George was coy about his sexuality back then. It's definitely not common even now, for sure. And it won't be a common thing unless more entertainers have the courage to take the risk. I agree that Adam probably will be more vocal about his sexuality in the future, but I'm not so sure it would hurt his career if he did it now. It would depend on what direction he wants to take his music and if he wants to keep his teeny bopper fans (although I bet most of them would still love him anyway.) It's hard to believe that there are any adults who haven't already figured it out - if they like him now why wouldn't they like him if he said it? I guess there is only one way to find out for sure, we'll have to wait and see what happens...

If you thought about this issue for a second before opening your mouth, you'd realize that by merely acknowledging the fact that he has a wife, Kris is "out of the closet" as a heterosexual. Just like a gay person is out of the closet as a homosexual if they simply acknowledge that they have a same-sex partner. That doesn't mean that they go around talking about intimate details of their sex life - it just means they live their life the same way as every straight person on the planet. If Adam publicly acknowledges that guy as his boyfriend - the same way that Kris has no problem acknowledging his wife - then he's out of the closet, and I'm not going to suggest otherwise. But if he won't do that, then he's in the closet. And no one has ever expected straight people to keep their relationships secret, so why should Adam? This whole idea that coming out of the closet automatically equals going on the cover of People saying "I'm gay," or giving graphic details about your sex life to the public, is total nonsense. The only reason anyone would think that a gay person saying that they're gay (or acknowledging that they have a same-sex partner) is the equivalent of a straight person saying, "I like fucking so-and-so and we have oral sex and anal sex and I cum on their face and we like sadomasochism, etc. etc., etc." is if they think that gay relationships are just about sex. No one thinks that Kris is talking about his sex life when he mentions his wife, so why would Adam be sharing intimate details of his sex life by mentioning he has a male partner? Straight people don't go through life keeping their relationships secret. If Adam keeps his secret, then he's in the closet. Simple as that. And believing that he should keep his relationship secret, because anything else is the equivalent of oversharing, is double-standard bullshit. Unfortunately, lot of well-meaning people buy into this double-standard bullshit, and it's sickening.

Ring Of Fire was Adam's worst performance. It was insanely over the top, trashing both the song and the genre. It was an insult to Johnny Cash and the show. It reeked of "I don't give a shit about country music, I'm doing whatever I want." I said at the time that I hoped it would put Adam in the bottom 3. And if that was the first time I'd seen Adam, I'd sure want him to lose also. Having said all that, I'm inclined to agree with people who think Clay was lying about not watching the show. Pretending he'd ONLY seen Ring Of Fire gives him a perfect excuse to trash Adam. In all likelihood he watched the show pretty regularly, desperately wanted to fuck Adam, and had already been turned down. So this could just be his bitchy way of getting back at him.

Johnny collaborated with a lot of younger musicians, I think he would have appreciated Adam's spin on the song. After all Johnny took "Hurt" in a totally different direction than it was originally recorded by NIN. He did Danzig and Depeche Mode covers too. Johnny had an appreciation for all different kinds of music and artists. Johnny was not the typical closed-minded country musician. He lived a wild life - he was no square, in spite of his devotion to the lord.

Anyone that can take on Led Zepplin, The Stones, and Queen, and hold their own can sing rock. I hate to remind Gene, but there are just as many variations within the genre (look at Daughtry, Bo and David Clark-all a different type of rock and all done well). Why did Gene have to go there, seriously, I am so pissed about the comment. No other guest artists said anything about the duets. If anyone should have complained, it was Lionel Richie. Gokey was not very good on that duet. Oh and Clay, you are a jealous, little bitch. Suck on that big boy. I also have to agree with The Smoking Nun. Johnny Cash fought hard to step out of the box (Folsom prison album for one). I think he would have been thrilled that contemporary artists still want to use his music and push the limits with it. Johnny was definately a limit pusher, I think he would have enjoyed it from that perspective.

I can appreciate some aspects of Gene's personality and I generally don't mind his bluntness, but he is a narcissistic, greedy Republican so I wouldn't really expect him to be anything other than an asshole. In a way, getting dissed by a dick like Gene is almost a compliment. I've never thought that there was anything special about Kiss, other than their showmanship. Gene and Clay are both has-beens with dwindling numbers of fans, so their insults don't really hold much weight anyway. HA HA HA I'll be the first to admit that my opinion is just that, only my opinion, but for as much as some of the bloggers seem to dislike me and care so little about my thoughts, they sure can waste a lot of their space on what I say! If only many of them took the time to pay attention to important things like the US economy and the welfare of the world's children. But... nah... I could blog about that type of stuff anytime and most wouldn't think twice, but let me say something that they can pick and choose quotes and misinterpret me... and it's showtime! I never assumed my opinion mattered so much! I guess I may have been wrong. That said, since my previous blog got dissected like a biology lab frog, i suppose I should clarify and even retract some of what I wrote. I am sure that some were upset by my choice of words describing my opinion of a performance I heard from Adam Lambert. I hope no one actually believed that blood truly poured forth from my ears when I heard him. I obviously meant it as a colorful statement to imply that I did not enjoy what I heard. Any performer hopes that their music will appeal to all people, but no singer realistically expects it to. God knows, I am SURE there are PLENTY of people who can't stand to hear me sing either. I wouldn't dream of assuming that, and I am sure that far worse things have been said about my performances than I would even venture to type here. To me, that's fine. I don't expect unanimous, nor even majority support for my music. But, my guess is Adam doesn't either. I would not venture to make judgements on the personality or demeanor of anyone I don't know, so none of what I said in my previous blog was directed as a "slam" on Adam as a person. At the same time, I wouldn't dream of slamming him as an entertainer. He does what he does, because he enjoys it, and he obviously has many fans who enjoy it as well. If what i said in my previous blog regarding my impression of a single performance from Adam upset or offended any of his fans, I expect that the mature ones will realize that it was simply a poorly worded metaphor describing my personal tastes. The only person I would really dream of apologizing to is Adam. And the irony is, if he's smart he couldn't give a crap what I think of his Ring of Fire performance. As an entertainer, Adam knows that one person's opinion of one performance really matters a little less than zero, in the grand scheme of things. He could not have gotten on Idol (nor made it as far as he did) without an immense amount of talent. He surely doesn't need my approval to know he has a gift. At the same time, he realizes that amazing talent doesn't always equal universal appeal. (I could NEVER have the amount of skill and talent that ballet dancers have! that's talent! But, I don't particularly enjoy it!) I am sure that I will have plenty of opportunities in the coming years to hear Adam sing. I imagine he'll be around for years to come. But in the meantime, I definitely don't want to stoop to the level of so many negative freaks on the internet... so, I do apologize to Adam for my colorful (and negative) choice of words. I hope he can forgive me. I imagine he doesn't give a damn! :-) God knows he shouldn't. :-) Now, for those of you who are able to comment on this.... lets take bets as to which bits and pieces of this blog will end up mass distributed.
