Bumlets, have you even heard any of Kris' songs from Brand New Shoes? He's extremely talented, and a great writer. Is it so bad to like someone who can write their own shit, and sing it well? Who cares if he's hot...makes him all the more marketable with his great voice and songs.

I really tried to "get" Kris believe it or not, but every single song sounds exactly the same. I'm sure that's the way some people feel about Adam and that is their opinion. Can you honestly tell me that if Kris was fugly that he would have made it out of the top 36 with his performance of "Man in the Mirror?"

Quite possibly! Not that "Man in the Mirror" was great or anything but his biggest competition was Megan's noticeably off-key, veering-on-screechy take on "Put Your Records On". Mishavonna and Jesse both should've had legitimate shots, but they were both so shot down by the judges that there was no way they were getting through. Jasmine/Matt both delivered certified train wrecks.

So Kris being fugly would definitely hurt his chances, but I don't think it'd completely destroy them (and let's be honest, his looks don't factor into the equation nearly as much as the ridiculous screen time distribution that other contestants got).

Jesse was never given a chance- I had her pegged as the third contestant moving on. Kris kind of came out of nowhere to get that spot. He's lucky that Matt Giraud picked that time to start sucking.

That's exactly my point. I don't think it was necessarily Kris' looks that propelled him into the finals. I think it was the lack of any other option.
Jesse and Mishavonna both had the talent and performance abilities to make it there, but the judges had it in their script that they were just cannon fodder. Matt Giraud and Jasmine Murray (or maybe Megan Joy) were clearly the two predetermined ones, but they both bombed so hard that no amount of pimping could help. Everything just fell into place for Kris on that day and I can't blame him for it. He performed well (and pretty much it was the only time he did anything but a super heartfelt ballad without an instrument the entire season).
