I might have not minded so much if Seacrest asked her after her performance who she's rooting for, I guess. Or if she made a comment that Adam impressed her the most this season. The cape was somehow NOT the way to do it. Tacky? I've made no comment on production value. Not sure what it has to do with anything.

So you say overpimping when in reality perhaps the judges and the audience are reacting to the live performance and if you were sitting there you might be blown away too. I know for a fact no one I've ever seen in concert sounds as good on television as they did live and the experience of actually sitting in the audience and enjoying the live performance heightens the excitement and therefore gets more praise.

And it seems we both agree about the cape. Sloppy and lazy executive producing is NOT having some ground rules about guest stars pimping one contestant over another on a voting night or telling a contestant that you have a major celebrity locked in for their duet and then embarassing that celebrity by saying that they backed out when you never put a call in to them. That's not production values, that's lying about major talent and getting caught in an ugly lie to a blind kid that embarrasses a celebrity. As for the pimpage, it has always gone on but it has felt worse this year to me. And that is something an executive producer can control. Allison thrown under the bus constantly by Simon. Gokey told he was great even when he was just okay or given As for effort after his screech. Kara throwning Kris under the bus a few times. The obvious picking of Gokey and Adam for the final 2. I could be wrong but the pimpage seemed worse this year.

I have no idea if the hype helped or hurt Adam but the stunt gave off the appearance of favoritism and reminded me of the crap pulled during the game show scandals of the 1950s. Another example of poor executive producing giving AI a black eye this year? Embarrassing Billy Joel and making him look like he pulled out last minute on the poor blind guy who therefore didn't get his duet. I KNOW that Billy Joel's people were really pissed by that. They had to publicly embarrass AI saying Joel was never invited just so he didn't look sleazy. Wanna bet many celebrities won't do the show after that? And it sure makes AI look really good about lying to the blind kid in the first place about how they had gotten him Billy Joel. I might be being hypercritical since I produce for a living but the producing this season seemed to me to be a lot sloppier and lazier than in previous seasons. And maybe I'm off-base to attribute it to Nigel's absence but there is tons of room for improvement and given the $$ being raked in, AI owes that improvement to both its contestants and fans. Again, just my opinion. Wow, Sheritard you're research skillz kinda suck for a producer person.

You might be correct that Adam often deserved his praise. But this pimpage often went beyond the critiquing of a performance to telling people who to vote for and to unfairly throwing contestants like Allison and Kris under the bus at times just so TPTB could get the final 2 they wanted. It felt to me like manipulation to produce a pre-picked final 4, final 3, final 2 and winner. And it backfired on them. But my guess is that next year will be no better.

I think Adam had some off performances and the only one who was 100% never fail to praise Adam was Paula. Okay, now I see the disconnect, Screerider. In TV, the Executive Producers ARE responsible for every facet of the show. That includes not just the look or production values but also the script, casting, budget and finances, RULES (if a game show or reality show), pr, handling of celebrities, everything. Yes, they have people reporting to them on all of these items but they are the final arbiters. So problems with the rules not being enforced or bad rules, poor treatment of celebrities (like Joel), not controlling corporate sponsors and overpimpage issues falls on the Exec Producers' shoulders. That is what I mean by sloppy or lazy producing. That is why they get the Emmy or in film, the Oscar.

My point is that the Executive Producers need to stop the Judges from the overpimpage, and if they're behind it, shame on them. The Judges are there to critique individual performances and to offer constructive criticism, not select the winners or tell America who to vote for or unfairly throw contestants under the bus. If TPTB want some say or control in the outcome, make the voting resemble DTWTS. A direct vote by the Judges with their reasons for their vote stated. Overpimpage isn't fair to anyone, the winners, the losers or those who vote and support the show.

Either way is fair. As an Allison supporter, I really think she was given short shrift and Simon made it clear that she was not part of the master plan to be in the final 3. I also felt for Kris when Kara was tossing him under the bus. And I felt that Gokey's pimpage was silly at times. And I think the overpimpage had some affect on how America started to feel about Adam towards the end. Does that mean I need to stop watching? Why should that be? I do know that Simon has sometimes changed his mind after watching a performance on TV, and it seems he gives added weight to the TELEVISED version over the live one... More like Simon gets the voting results and realizes he backed the wrong horse like the Davids in last season's finale. Knockout became opps ... David Cook did really well.

Which is probably why it would be wrong to take it to the next level. If the judges comment about being "pitchy", the arrangement, the outfits, the dancing, etc., why should be noticing the same things they are, and can then have an opinion about their opinion. If their comments are "that blew me away," "it was just alright for me", or "that was like watching a piglet trying to be a tigger", well, not sure how we could debate those opinions in any case.

I didn't even vote for Adam until F3 night and that was in combination with Kris votes just to knock gokey out. I voted my ass off for Allison though a couple of weeks. I keep telling people I wasn't a hardcore Adamtard until he sang Beth. I didn't care if he won. I didn't vote in F2. Not their clothes, not their likeability, not their lack of arrogance, etc. Either they are a good singer and sang the song well or they didn't. simple as that.

I normally voted for Adam and Allison, and I stepped it up as I started to feel that the Judges were throwing her under the bus and doing everything they could to find fault with her -- from her confidence level to her song choices to her wardrobe. I resented these comments because they seemed to be such an obvious attempt to keep her out of the Final 3 because TPTB didn't want her there. And I voted hard after she was eliminated for Kris and Adam to get Gokey eliminated because of the overpimpage of him. Pimpage can work in favor of someone or against them but it grates when the Judges make up reasons as to why someone like an Allison or a Kris are undeserving (confidence, not enough personality, wardrobe, song choice) because it doesn't fit with their grand plan. I still feel that Allison belonged in the Final 3 and if she hadn't been consistently trashed by the Judges when she had been giving some really astounding performances, she may well have been Final 3. Hopefully the guy from Rolling Stone is correct and she'll be the easiest to record an album for and she'll be a bigger success than Gokey and none of this will matter.
