I just watched in on Hulu, for those who missed it.
I'm not normally a sci-fi fan (except for Lost, I guess), but I loved the first episode. I LIKE shows that keep things moving along. Love, love LOVE Elizabeth Mitchell. |

It's up @ ABC.com as well. Apparently they're going to be adding commentary to the pilot as well. I loved the first ep. Set things up without it being
boring as they introduce all the characters.
I agree that it was nice to see Liz kick butt. So glad the spoilers were right.

So I just watched this yesterday and I have to say overall it was pretty shoddy. The first episode was basically "We assume that everyone has seen the old
V miniseries so we are just going to gloss over everything and cut right to the chase. Not good story telling imo.
And did anyone else burst out laughing at the scene where the priest saves wheelchair guy from Jesus? I don't think I could imagine a more horribly contrived action sequence. |

I liked it but I was hoping they wouldn't pull the old trope of 'the Visitors can look like anyone!". I mean we just finished BSG. I was hoping
they'd refrain from it. Oh well.
And yeah I wish they'd done more of a slow burn like the original mini did. Still it was entertaining. |

I was meh. Wayyy too much was done in the pilot. Chopping the original mini into hour long segments doesn't seem to translate well. The themes were more
striking as a Nazi allegory than as an anti-Dubya/Obama allegory (this was clearly about neocons and Fox when it was in development but has embraced Yes We Can
since it's gone into production). The original is a masterpiece of science fiction, and it is just as effective today and a remake is unnecessary. To be
honest I enjoyed FF more; FF is fresh, whereas V is a remake and by definition can't bring anything new to the table. I guess one bright spot is that the
pilot of Star Trek TNG was pretty lame too and that show turned out okay.
I did like the in-joke about ID4 being a ripoff, although ID4 was never really a ripoff beyond the imagery of ships hanging over cities. |

I must have missed something (as I'm always prone to do).
First we have the newsman asking why the visitors are all so beautiful. Then we see that they are NOT all beautiful. (I didn't think the black guy with the engagement ring was that hot.) Was it really said the "the visitors could look like anyone"? |

I don't think the "all Visitors are beautiful" thing necessarily applies to the Visitors who were already on Earth as sleeper agents trying to
blend in with the humans.
