AHHH! How did I not start this thread ages ago??

I LOVED V as a kid, every [part of it including the show (which was much better than it gets credit for. An 80s series that is actually quite nicely continuity-driven and serialized but not overly so). I must have re-watched both minis dozens of times and relished their release on both VHS and DVD. The series coming out on DVD was a dream come true as I had missed the big wedding ep when my fam went ot the movies and the VCR didn't record it.

Very excited about the new show. The preview clips look great. Morena seems to be an awesome Diana.

PS When I empty my recycle bin on my desktop I get the sound effect of Pamela saying to Diana in "Final Battle"

"We will rid you of this nuissance once and for all."

Basic premise (from original series, which will be probably slightly changed here and there for the re-telling) is:

aliens arrive on Earth in 50 motherships across the globe. They come in peace and meet with world leaders. They need a common element available on Earth that's crucial for their lives. In exchange they offer scientific breakthroughs including things like cures for cancer etc. On the cusp of these developments being done the aliens are attacked by what turns out to be apparently a conspiracy amoung Earth's scientific community. The aliens must 'reluctantly' hold off on the science developments. The Scientist quickly become scapegoats, earning the ire of the population at large. People are rounded up and disappear. People collaborate with the aliens. A reporter snoops around and discovers the aliens' secret: they're lizard-like humanoids who are planning on stealing all of the earths water and large chunks of the population for.... food. Humans start gathering in small groups forming a loosely organized Resistance. The mini was a large ensemble featuring people in all parts of society, primarily in and around LA focusing primarily on journalism Mike Donovan and scientist Juliet Parrish.

The original mini was a parable about how Nazis came to power in Germany.
