So most of us here started watching Survivor since we were little. Do you think the younger generation is discovering the show and becoming obsessive fans as
well? Or do you think the game has evolved to be too complicated to allow new fans into the circle?

I think if they become interested in the show, then they might check out the earlier seasons and would understand the evolution of gameplay and editing. Or am
I being too optimistic?

i got started on boreno or outback, dont remember which. my great gand mother was a game show junkie, so she watched these seasons too. i was like 7 or 8, and
my mom didnt let me watch other seasons cause she didnt like how the girls were always in their swimsuits
, and i started watching again when Cook Islands started.

I know like five12-14 year olds who started watching just last season since Kenny was on it, which is also why I started watching it.
I talk to one of them about the show pretty often since he's a cousin and we both got the gist of how the editing works and all that pretty fast. It's not as complicated as long time fans make it out to be, but reading crap online helps. |

i started watching when i was 15, palau.........
when i first watched and enjoyed survivor it was purely for the physical challneges, it wasn't until panama and cook islands that i really understood the dynamics behind the game and the mental, physical social and political (strategical) aspects of it. Survivor it currently my favourite show on tv purely becuase on its ingenious structure (thx CBS producers, or Mark Burnett or whoever came up with the concept), in no other reality tv show or in life do you have to scak or vote out someone in a way thats justifiable enough to gain enough votes (from those you had a hand in voting out) to win the million bucks. That's why the show will continue to gain or maintain appeal, it's structure is the best and unrivalled, BUT it does take a couple of seasons to truly accept and understand the dynamics of the game..... |
