But TAR2 featured the shock elimination of an alpha-male team in Episode 4, and a hugely diverse group of people at the end (including the same family/partners/friends split). The predictable guy-domination that TAR3 is supposedly amazing for overcoming wasn't really an issue until TAR4. TAR3's boot order = A++, TAR3's cast = B-, since the possibility of a Heather/Eve, Aaron/Arianne and Andre/Damon Final 3 would have been worse than any TAR2 combination.

And beatles, 311 > 308. 311 > 308? X Definitely as a leg, it had everything from comedy to action to drama. But 308 in Switzerland was classic in its own right. Pants falling down, missions aborted, Gerard almost getting hit by a trolley... Basically TAR3 was all kinds of epic.

Tramel/Talicia could've taken JVJ's spot in the final five and I think it would've been for the better. But the final four is perfect. Seasons 1 and 3 are the only ones that get better with subsequent viewings. I'll agree on 1 and 3--the first three are the best three. The problem with TAR3 is that it takes so long to get going. Literally about a third of the season is nothing special. The second half though is pretty fantastic. I think overall TAR3 has the best standalone episodes (8 and 10 are both in my top three, along with 208) but TAR2 is better as a whole. When you guys say 311, are you referring to the finale or the Derek/Drew elimination (leg 11)? The Wonder Twins' elim is my #3 so I obviously love that one too. But 308 is just perfect in its craziness. No way of knowing who was in front and how it would go down. Those last 15 minutes are TAR at its best. "My ox is broken!" = overrated (as is pretty much everything TAR5, sorry).

Tramel/Talicia could've taken JVJ's spot in the final five and I think it would've been for the better. But the final four is perfect. Well, A++ by TAR standards, in the sense that Tramel/Talicia were too obviously inept to make it further - I'd prefer the mercy killing of loveable teams that having them dragged to the end like total buffoons like Meredith/Gretchen, sucking suspense out of the final legs. Having a strong (if directionally challenged) team like JVJ made it much more satisfying to the see the older couple, the bald out of shape guys + Flo triumph. About the only real change I'd have liked would be Andre/Damon getting screwed by Heave's flight trickery in Leg 3 with Dandrew 1.0. making it to Leg 7 in their place. Phil's finale blog is the first time I've heard him comprehensively list his favourite seasons: "I think season 14 was definitely one of the best we've ever done. Ranks right up there with some of my other personal favorites - seasons 1, 3, 5, and 7 to name a few." at TAR2 getting shafted again (and at TAR12 being underrated by everyone outside of Sucks)

I always kinda liked TAR8 though because the cast was so good, and I'm not American so I had never seen a lot of the places they went to. And I can't say I hold out a lot of hope for next season, it's sorta starting to feel like the show has just grown stale. Unless they start putting more effort into the casting, it's just going to keep going downhill.

X to TAR10 depreciation/TAR8 appreciation TAR10 disproves the theory that "lots of new countries = amazing season", since they struggled for culturally relevant tasks (mattress carrying?? random obstacle course?? rapping?!?!) and lacked the interesting flight and travel mess-ups of Vietnam/India. But in retrospect, I at least appreciate that it's a genuinely hard and diverse course, and with a more likeable group of teams it might have been enjoyable.

Singling out TAR3 is surprising, maybe Phil's love for it was the reason why they included two teams in TARAS--ok, so more likely it's just Ereka Shay dating John Vito that gave them the slot. But it still seems like a random one to include two from (especially since one of those two was not Ken/Gerard), since the others with multiple representatives were the most recent season + the two on DVD.

Phil said there that it was probably the one moment casual viewers remember most, if that means anything.

Put them in any later season though, and they stink up the joint. And Phil saying the Romber Show was one of the best seasons:

I think if the Twin Hunt happened on any season, they'd be pretty sympathetic - if anything being in such a great cast with a brilliant Final 3 hurt their popularity - put them in TAR10 instead the Druggies and their constant "dude, dude, this sucks, dude, dude" and 232 laboured confessionals about the Blondes to try to give them a storyline and they'd definitely be the team I'd root for.

Broken ox, I'll give you, but Kami & Karli overrated? They're one of my favorite unintentional comedy teams ever. TAR2 - best final leg, (they ran the shit out of those teams), deepest cast TAR3 -best F3, plus TNT and Heather, but the rest of the cast was weaker than 2, A little too much Europe, but otherwise a great season.

The only team that I couldn't really stand by the end was Andre & Damon, because they were dragging down Kenny & Gerard, which is UN.ACCEPT.ABLE. Heather/Eve were the (better) precursor to Meredith & Maria, Michael & Kathy were an acceptable dating couple, and Aaron & Arianne were a great set of early villains. Derek & Drew were nowhere near as bad an alpha team as people sometimes put across, either; and if this season did anything, it had the greatest redemption moment of all time, when loud, cantankerous Ian went from kind of annoying to <3able old vet revisiting Vietnam.
