RACE FOR HOPE UPDATE:
So I was checking who's been donating to David's personal and team account (bad that I'm doing this at work). So far, the celebrity donors are:

Archie...contributed $100 to David
Ryan Star (David's opening act) donated...something; name on David's personal honor roll within the $250 contributors
"Ed Rollins and Collective Soul" (the original artist of TWIK)...$1000!!!!!

Regardless: $112,492.75 for David's team; $63,604.53 for David personal.

Donations can still be made until September 30 at www.curebraintumors.org

David Cook will be on the American Idol finale show this Wednesday, May 20th performing the song "Permanent" which he co-wrote with Raine.
The song will be available as a download on Itunes that night and all proceeds will go to David Cook's charity for brain tumour research that he recently set up for his brother Adam, whom he lost a couple of weeks ago to cancer.
We'll have a direct link to the Itunes single on Wednesday night, so be sure to check back here.

Those not familiar, the lead singer of Our Lady Peace (Raine Maida) -- cowrote 4 of David's songs on David's record.

Obviously, as soon as the link comes up to download Permanent -- which is both the audio AND the video of the performance tomorrow night -- it'll be posted here. Charity, per David (in an interview yesterday), is Accelerate Brain Cancer Cure (ABCC; "ABC²"), which is one of the 2 charities involved with the Race for Hope David participated in the day after Adam's passing.

Anyway, a friend of mine told me this quote yesterday from CA's governor that I think is appropriate for this event: "Confidence comes from victory, but strength comes from the struggle."

This was an email sent to some fellow Word Nerds from one of the 2 charities that sponsored the Race for Hope event in DC that David participated in (it was to one of the massive set of donors who contributed to David's team):

Earlier this month, Cook raised money and awareness for ABC2 by running in the organization's 5K "Race for Hope" in the District of Columbia. Now, the live recording of "Permanent" will be available as a charity single on iTunes for one month, raising more money to benefit ABC2. The organization uses an entrepreneurial venture philanthropy approach to bring more treatments to patients sooner by stimulating new research and accelerating the development of new therapies for brain cancer. ABC2 looks forward to the day when all patients who are diagnosed with brain cancer can be told they have a manageable disease.

ABC2 provides researchers with the pivotal support they need to make critical breakthroughs. The organization funds novel translational research aimed at finding the fastest possible route to a cure.
