*passes Kleenex around*
So just now I was listening to the radio station WBOW-FM ("B102.7" in Terre Haute). Decided to, once again, do a request for David. Normally, it's a different radio station that I get minor success in playing songs. So, this morning, it was B102.7. Called in to request "any song by David Cook" with the caveat to dedicate said song to the Cook family. Man, did they do that dedication!! (Those not familiar, B102.7 was the one that paid for Adam's flight to LA to see David on Idol) Didn't record the dedication, but here's what was the gist of it: 1. Applauded the efforts of us for David's Race for Hope team, and applauded David taking charge of his humanitarian efforts on behalf of those still suffering 2. Mentioned Adam's initial diagnosis and the experimental treatments that prolonged his life from 2 weeks to 10+ years. 3. Mentioned the song they were playing they played earlier in the week, and people started calling after the song aired...that they were going to purchase DCTR!!!! :-) Then there was the song itself. On this station's rotation is the normal HAC singles "Magic Rainbow" (TOML), LO and CBTM. Today...it was a different song. They played...a song normally dedicated by David to Adam. They played...Permanent. Before I started balling...I forced myself to sing it (which is the normal thing I do to cope with not losing it). And now...I'm happy. That's all for now. |

Permanent always makes me tear up, especially now.

This is a very nice tribute video to David and Adam (will only be viewable until next Wednesday) from one of my friends from the UK. |

Thanks to everyone who said nice things in this thread and those who bumped it back up.
I also see that a Jessica A Wakefield took a cheap shot at me calling me a stalker fantard of Paula Abdul's and Ryan Seacrest. To Jessica: hardly. I have worked in the entertainment field in Hollywood since 1997, and it's a pretty small universe. You meet people at DGA, SAG, WGA, agency and management parties. And of those on AI, the two most "sociable" are Paula and Ryan. |

So, on today -- the 1st anniversary of David Cook Day in Blue Spring, MO -- here's David's acoustic version of "My Hero" by the Foo Fighters that he normally played during last year's AI tour, and dedicated to Adam. |

I cried during the tribute U-Tube.
I hope that David's wife and family recover with more happy memories than sad moments and David has a great and long career. |

It's one week to the day that we learned about the tragedy that was Adam's passing from us. A few days after finding that out, I went back to the above website for the Race for Hope - DC event (where David made the announcement) to see who has donated to the cause of finding a cure for brain tumors. So far, on David's team alone, there was 3 celebrities that have donated to David's personal page:
You can still donate up to September 30 to the Race for Hope page if you still want to. Hope this helps. |

The Dash, by Linda M. Ellis In an interview (that'll be posted later today), David claimed to have read the above poem while Adam was put to rest(?)

While I give my condolences, I would like to mention Danny Gokey is a better person/performer than David Cook.

When I first saw this title of this thread, I thought that it was for his dying career.
Oops. |

Yeah, he was cocky on the show and hasn't had much of a career.
