I was like that mostly with Psylocke/him/you. The others I tried to tone it down a bit. It didn't work so well.

45. Joe - beatles20147 (Tocantins) There's only one thing I remember about Joe Since in messages we exchanged only a "hello." Joe was defined by his never-ending flow Of rhyming posts he would bestow. Thinking up those words was tough, I know But beatles was totally a pro. He always had a new rhyme ready to go Always surprising me and making me go "whoa." He didn't maintain the rhymes in PMs, though. That disappointed me and brought me woe. I never considered him my bro But I respected his gimmick, yo. New schticks can be hard to come by and show But this was one I hadn't seen befo'. His jury speech was an awesome blow Of magnificent prose that rivaled my own. Apparently his blindside gave the game a burst of turbo. I don't know much else about his strategy, though. For someone like Coach who hated the Jalapao hoes, It was nice to have Joe with whom to knock bows. At the end of the day, Joe gave us a great show And in any ORG, that's what sets us all aglow.
44. Cyclops - Mister Plum (Omni-Survivor) I'll be honest. Had I not interacted with Cyclops after my boot, he'd probably be ranked considerably lower. During our shared time in the game, he was never really one of my favorites. Right from the get-go, I perceived him as the single biggest threat to my game. I don't know where that impression came from, but something about our conversations suggested to me that he'd want me gone and probably have the influence to make it happen. I couldn't do anything about it for the longest time, but I kept reminding myself that as soon as I ended up on the same tribe as him, I would need to get rid of him ASAP. In fact, when Ooga Booga was given the opportunity to hand Immunity to a member of Cyclop's tribe at the game's first TC, I quickly gathered the support for a Cyclops vote. Their tribe would be booting the inactive Scarlet, which was fine, but I wanted everyone to see how well-liked he was and hopefully turn against him after he was handed a free Immunity. I don't think Cyclops ended up being much of a threat to my game, but he certainly provided some of its difficulties. Polaris was absolutely in love with him, which was a problem. When the Loved Tribe formed, I quickly turned the tides against the one guy I didn't have a strong alliance with, and Cyclops was slated to be our first boot. Storm's betrayal changed things and caused me to shift the target to her, but had it not been for her scheming, Cyclops would have been the lucky benefiter of the TLT winning streak. He really was always super nice to me, but I decided early on that I wouldn't have anything to seriously do with him, so we never made that tight bond, I don't think. He liked me and we talked often, but I was convinced he did that with everyone. Totally misread him as a power player. Eventually he ended up turning on me with those Juju losers, but he predictably waited too long to make his move, and it ended up resulting in failure. He still moved one round too early, actually, so props for that - might have allowed him to pull it off had the proper target been selected. Anyway, the reason Cyclops ends up ranking this high on the list isn't for what he did in-game, as I said, but rather his attitude in Ponderosa. Contrasted to people like Beast, Cyclops was a total ray of sunshine, and that's when I began to see the positive outlook that characterizes Mister Plum. Not only was he one of my biggest fans (and of course, there were a lot of them :P ), but he was just really appreciative of the whole game and not the least bit bitter about how things turned out. I respect that and it really helped me enjoy my short stay on the outside. As you can see, a little positivity can take you a long way when it comes to my liking you as a character (Iceman, anyone?), and Cyclops was really enjoyable following his elimination from Genosha.
43. Kelly - ModernDayClyde (Gabon) REMINDER: FML's Micronesia has not yet been factored into these rankings. Gabon began with PMs disabled for the entire cast, and right from the start, Kelly began leaving her impression as the biggest post whore of the whole group. She wanted to leave a mark on us without relying on the non-existed messaging system, and that's exactly what she did. I don't know how much Kota liked her, but as far as I know, our tribe, Fang, appreciated having someone energetic and fun in our midst. Gabon hadn't even started airing at the time of the beginning of this game, but Kelly created a great character for herself without any real outline to work off of. Still no idea where the scarf love came from, but I remember when she opened her boutique and invited me to work as her employee, hawking scarves to as many customers as I could. Since I was gay Charlie, it was fitting. Anyway, Kelly quickly emerged as the biggest character in the game, and when PMs were finally enabled, she ran to me asking me to join her planned alliance of the top five contributors. Unfortunately, I had to inform her at that point that I had no intentions of joining any alliances or playing any strategies, forcing her to grab somebody else to round out her majority. But it was nice to know that had I been playing normally, I would have been one of the first people she approached for her alliance proposal. And though I never talked any real strategy with her, I could tell she'd be someone I'd have worked closely with had I not been trying my Gabriel Cade experiment. I really liked her from the first few days of the game. Anyone who's not afraid to emerge as the most OTT personality is pretty cool in my book (unless they're annoying or boring, neither of which applied to Kelly).
42. Denise - kinda lumpy (Debb's Hags) Aw, the one person in Debb's Revenge I outlasted. And dammit, one of the only hags I would have preferred not to have outlasted. Denise was easily the biggest character of the entire game. Not for good reasons, but reasons nonetheless. She was gross and obnoxious and disgusting and antagonizing and basically everything you would expect from any character in a game called Debb's Revenge: Survivor Hags. Apart from Patricia and myself, she was the only person to have a really OTT schtick, and considering I went into the game expecting most of the cast to operate under some crazy gimmick, I felt really comfortable seeing her being a raging bitch. There was no great strategic reason to boot her first (just as there wasn't with me), but it happened anyway, much to my dismay. I quickly joined her in the Jury Lodge, where she spent the entire game bitching and calling people out for nothing at all. She was impossible to take seriously, but I thought she was pretty funny. Sure, kinda vulgar and sometimes that got old, but I only checked the boards when I was in the mood for that kind of humor, so it worked pretty well. Again, in any other game, I probably would have hated Denise, but in this game, it only seemed appropriate, and I wish it had lasted for a much longer period of time. What a shame the first two boots were also the two biggest characters.
41. Tyson - island sun (Tocantins) Uh oh, someone's gonna be upset. I definitely recognized how great of a character Tyson was in Tocantins. He played the persona well and got plenty of attention for it. The thing is, much like the real Tyson, island sun's Tyson seemed to just try too hard. Being a villain should come naturally. He had to work for it way too much. It came off as really forced to me, and that made me appreciate the characterization a bit less. I'll admit that at times, he played it really well and was genuinely funny. IIRC, I really liked his jury question, and as long as I only read his posts in small doses, I enjoyed his humor. But talking to him was nothing special, and I still fail to see how he won the beginning first impressions vote. He didn't leave any great impression on me, not from Day 1. But at the end of the day, it wasn't Tyson's character that made me like him, surprisingly. No, it helped that he was OTT and funny, but what really set him apart from the other players was the fact that he was a ballsy player on top of the gimmicky posting. Specifically, the type of ballsy player who arrives on his tribe for the first time (after spending a day with Jalapao), and proceeds to shift the boot target all because he wants to keep the biggest character (and potentially most useful ally), Benjamin "Coach" Wade, in the game. I don't know how impressive it really was, but it was certainly awesome. And he continued to protect my giant target of an ass all throughout the pre-merge, until Timbira got to the point where there was no more dead weight or untrustworthy minority players to knock out. So yeah, that was cool. He's the person most responsible for keeping Benjamin "Coach" Wade alive as long as I was (and getting me within one round of the merge). That counts for quite a bit, even if he blatantly copied Tyson way too often. :P |

Tearz. But damn, just like what you said, I predictably waited too long to do my move but still, me, Psylocke, Rogue and Jubilee has a plan that can ultimately turn the tables on. That's when we voted you out instead of Gambitch. Apparently, it's our plan to vote Gambit out so he could go 4-4 against Jubilee. Gambit has more past votes than Jubilee. Why it didn't happen? Because yope is a clusterfudge that night. Oh well, thanks for the nice write up. |

Joe <333 Does beatles do a schtick every game? Having played with him just that once, I wouldn't know.
Cyc was mad luv. Made me really appreciate Plummy as a gamer. Non-bitter jurors are a dime a dozen these days. Kelly Tyson was probably the most-in character (aside from Coach, and even then Coach was just a caricature, he did too scheme and plot. He just pretended like he didn't.). I think trying too hard is a part of Tyson's charm. Sometimes I just had to cringe. Like I said, totally in character. |
