Considering the situation, I can see why Daniel needed a gun. He wanted them to tell him where Jughead was buried so that he could detonate it. I doubt they
would be willing to freely give that information out.

I'm wondering if the 1977 Losties will end up on opposite sides of each other. I can see a few of them wanting to let 'what happened, happen' and I
can also see a few of them wanting to change the future so the plane lands in LA. Maybe it is the turning against each other that contributes to 'the
incident'. I also believe that by trying to change the future they are actually creating it. Even though Daniel may be dead, I think his storyline is far
from over. We are only beginning to scratch the surface of what Eloise and Charles know and why they have done the things they did.
I don't take offense to Daniel running into hostile camp with his gun a blazin'...it just seems to me he was desperate to change the future and desperate people do desperate things, and it is certainly not out of character for Jack and Kate to go running all fired up with their guns without thinking rationally. |

I can't seem to grasp the Daniel/Eloise time line.
Somebody speculated that in 1977 (when Ellie shoots Daniel) that Daniel had not yet been born. OK I guess I could buy that. But when Desmond went to visit Faraday in England, wasn't that 1996? If so, I have a hard time believing that Faraday could be 19 or under and working as a professor. Now also, we know very little about Daniel's childhood, but for the fact that at app. 10 years old, he was living with dear old mum (Eloise) off island. So in 1977, where is original Daniel? He almost certainly should have been born by then. And when both Eloise and Charles tell him he has to go back to the island, neither offers any inkling that he had ever been there before...which you would think they would. So if he's not on the island, where is he? |

I'm wondering if the 1977 Losties will end up on opposite sides of each other.Appears that's happening already. it is certainly not out of character for Jack and Kate to go running all fired up with their guns without thinking rationally.I don't think it was irrational to want guns to gtfo of Dharmaville. It was irrational to approach the hostiles with guns though. Jack and Kate didn't do that.. Somebody speculated that in 1977 (when Ellie shoots Daniel) that Daniel had not yet been born.If he hadn't been born yet that would make him 30 years old, possibly 29. He looks older than that to me. Maybe baby Dan was there with Ellie?

When he graduated he said he was the youngest something or other. Maybe he was a professor young?

I have a hard time believing that Daniel wasn't born yet in 1977. Not that they haven't screwed up when it comes to birth years before. And my issue
with the guns is not that they had them, but that Daniel went in alone pointing the gun at people. Not in a pocket or somewhere he could grab it easily, but
waving it around like a damn fool. DANIEL. Just ridiculous to me.

The writers made him do it.

Ok, so Richard and Eloise are standing over dead Daniel who just admitted that Eloise is his mother. Surely they'd whisk him off to the temple.
Also, I had forgotten the whispers visited young Ben before 1977. |

Remember what Ben said... Dead is dead, not even the island can fix that.
Locke not included, of course. |

I agree that it didn't seem out of character at all to have Daniel run in waving a gun. He has shown in the past that he often thinks too many steps ahead
of everyone else, and probably assumed that everyone listening to the guy with the gun was a foregone conclusion. He also doesn't seem to understand that
while he might think something is the best course of action, someone else may require more explanation before buying in. It seemed to me like he walked in
there thinking he would get extremely little resistance, and that once he talked to his mom (who he seemed to deeply trust until she killed him), everything
would work out like he thought it would.

I haven't watched this yet... did Daniel ever warn Little Charlotte not to come to the Island, like he said he wouldn't do?

did Daniel ever warn Little Charlotte not to come to the Island, like he said he wouldn't do? He did warn little Charlotte.. who oddly enough had a heavy british accent. That's annoying.

Weird. Eloise and W-I-D-M-O-R-E have a British accent too. Hmmm.
