Most contestants fizzle out after their season anyway. It's quite odd that of the three people out of 8 seasons who had halfway noteworthy TV/movie
careers, two didn't even hit the finals (Matt Metzger, Alan Ritchson).

Whoever said Adam is an entertainer and Kris has better musical taste is on the money.
All that tabloid attention that Adam is getting won't translate as well to selling albums as his fans might think. It's good for his "celebrity" but selling albums these days involves finding a popular genre and moving your units within it. That's why Jordin has done so well even though she had a tiny Idol fanbase. What is Adam's genre? Glam rock, 80s music, dance music. He's a real mess. It's really hard to see who will buy his album after the 500K that go to the Idol die hards are sold. Kat McPhee had many issues but I do agree marrying some old man \ was a very bad move.

frautardz, I suspect that Adam, like Gokey, has a niche that can ensure continuous, albeit probably minor, success once mainstream music loses interest in
them. The rainbow niche takes care of their own very well - Chad Allen still gets movie gigs in gay-themed movies despite having been forgotten by mainstream,
for example. We also have RuPaul who keeps coming out with music - someone has to keep buying them, and I suspect it's the pink crowd. Gokey, as we all
know, has enough to carve his own slice of success in Christian music, although it remains to be seen whether he'll be the Josh Gracin or Carrie Underwood
in that genre.
I'd say Kris Allen is the one who needs to succeed in mainstream more. Being known as the pleasant and bland guy is one thing, but musically he's also a chameleon on the show. Oh yeah, he had Heartless... and... uh... hmm... |

most marketable from season 8:
1. Allison - could be this year's Daughtry, WITH THE RIGHT CD. 2. Adam - agree that he will likely have a decent career somewhere, perhaps not as a recording artist. 3. Kris - problems galore. Unlike the finale voting, nobody will buy his CD simply because they dislike Adam's gayness or screaming. Unless he releases a song that gets major radio airplay, he will sell less than Taylor Hicks. 12. Danny - because he's more marketable than Michael Sarver. Will join Nikki, Vonzell and Syesha in the group of 3rd place finishers who can't get a recording contract (unless some Christian label picks him up). |

If he had a good publicist, they'd be getting him some sort of appearances, whether it is the Hollywood Life awards or something else (perhaps more
significant). That's how ALL of this stuff comes down, from People's "Most Beautiful" edition to who gets covered by Entertainment Tonight to
who gets nominated for a Tony. It may not be the only factor, but it's a huge one...

It's not about who has a better publicist. It's about who deserves it. Adam deserved that award. He was on American Idol (which is somewhere close
to Hollywood) and he got all the way to second place by singing (which is very artistic, especially for someone as young as Adam). Very few young Hollywood
artists have reached these heights. What has Kris or anyone else on that show ever done to deserve this honor?
So far, Adam is the most marketable as a "celebrity". Adam is doing everything his publicist would ever want him to do. Be seen at parties/bars, get photographed with his boyfriend, get "caught" by the paps, talk about his sexual orientation with Rolling Stone, attend awards shows. It remains to be seen if his celebrity profile can translate to being marketable as an artist. Really the key is how much the label believe in them. The promotional budget, production/songwriting team and radio push will determine their level of success as artists. Great singers and great songs go nowhere without promotion and industry politics. Allison, Adam and Kris are all talented enough and contemporary enough to be successfully marketed if all other factors are in place. That said, the easiest to market are Adam (because he seems to embrace "celebrity" and because of his appeal as a showman) and Allison (because of her youth and mainstream pop/rock appeal). |
