Cirie had her own little story of the couch potato never doing any of this but that was her OWN story and her overcoming the outdoors was a personal quest that was shown. Stephen's own initial description was the geeky city boy, sidekick to the burly outdoor guy who could be led around which in it of itself would be a nice ending to his own story but the entire premise of this season was about the impressions you make - Stephen does fit that pretty well.
Stephen also has a couple of scenes that are typical for a loser. His edit is analogous to Cirie ... both were out of their element, both were shown catching their first fish, both were shown struggling with fire, and both were shown overcoming it.I wouldn't say that was a typical edit for a loser since, so far, there has only been one person who had that edit and lost.
Don't get me wrong though, JT has his own ties to what was presented. We had heard him say how the redneck (I'm paraphrasing here) has never won and I remember Joe saying how JT is the brawn but not the sophisticate and so on so JT being underestimated because of the impressions people had about him serves the purpose also.
The whole city mouse, country mouse comparison is a beaut if we want to look at how this season was presented. Both came into this game with certain descriptors and they both complemented each other's game and also took on each other's game a bit (Stephen showing he isn't this nerdy geek who can't do anything, JT showing he isn't the dumb but strong redneck) I would love to see the promos with Stephen and JT with the words Warrior vs. Wizard - worthy opponents blah blah blah
I think an argument could be made for both of them easily if they are the last two
