In any season where a person has been voted out with an idol in possession, it has not been rehidden. That rules was changed in Micronesia because Ozzy told everyone about his idol. Had Ozzy not been a fucking moron, or had the BWB not looked through Jason's bag, no one would have known they found the idol, thus the idol would not have been rehidden.

No one knows for sure the reason why the idols weren't rehidden in China. So saying it was because James didn't play it or revealed he didn't have it (when he did reveal he had it to some) doesn't make any sense.

The most obvious answer is because the idols were actual props, not burried figures. The environment in China didn't even seem like there were many places to bury them, which explains why the idols were built in before the game started, and there were no other props built in, meaning they never intended to have more idols.

Plus, the last season the fans saw was Fiji, where the idols were rehidden and it could be expected. Not only that, but once Probst revealed the idols had been rehidden, it was fair to all and gave everyone a chance to fashion their games accordingly, giving no one the advantage. The fans fucked it up by making piss poor exile choices. Twice.
